What event would this be? How big? Would you be looking to do this within the premises of a pub using their beer garden or would you be looking to take over some public land (in which case you'd need Council permission, plus if alcohol is to be consumed then there's the Alcohol Restriction Zone in the city centre to be considered). Why don't you try The Roebuck Tavern on Charles Street, it has a good sized garden which is rare in the city centre.
