InvalidUser 01-11-2004, 11:28 Can anyone recommend a good shop for buying recordable Ritek DVDs in bulk (25 spindles).
Most of the high street shops are a rip off and I can't wait for mail order!
Thanks in advance....
DaBouncer 01-11-2004, 11:42 Disc Direct (Next Door to Staples bottom of the Moor) possibly
You could try these often have special offers and free delivery sometimes....
http://www.bigpockets.co.uk/
there is usually a guy at the bottom of the moor who stocks PC bits and bobs and his media is a good price... There on saturdays possibly there rest of week too...
I would try either svp.co.uk which has next day delivery options or there is one on London Road opposite the windows shop near the turkish restaurant.
Good Luck
i bought those exact discs from ebuyer.
although after about 75 and no problems it was every other disc. ive gone for cheaper ones now. same success rate.
theres a place near london road called `dragon computers' i think they are supposed to be cheap.. but a walk up london road and there is about 4 pc shops so maybe you could take your pick
Just bought some Arita (Ritek) myself from www.cd-rmedia.co.uk . Best deal on the net for A/B grade discs, 25 for £9.25 delivered next day.
Just to warn people who don't know, the majority of Ritek disks that are dirt cheap are C/D grade. This includes the ones branded as Datawrite, Datasafe etc. Arita is the only A/B disc that you will find fairly cheap. If you go for a branded Ritek disc you will pay a lot more, although I would like to be proved wrong.
To explain the grading of disc is pretty simple, the top quality ones go out as A grade and are branded Ritek and a few other names. Ones that don't quite make the grade for things such as mis-print of label are sent out as A/B grade and work pretty well. AFAIK these are all branded Arita. Below B are discs that may have inperfections in the side that is written to, the lower the grade the more chance of this. So you could be lucky and get a whole batch of D grade discs that work fine, or , like me, get some that are rubbish and produce completely unwatchable films.
jtrubridge 01-11-2004, 14:47 The guy with the market stall on the Moor who sells them is pretty good. He competes on prices with all the online people. I've never had any problems with any of his discs and have bought quite a lot off him. He sells by the disc and will discount the more you buy.
InvalidUser 01-11-2004, 15:33 Thanks everyone.
I bought some from the place at the bottom of the Moor, £12 for 25. I needed them today so online was out of the question.
DVDInfo reports that they're RITEKG04.

I've got through about 400+ of them and only had one duff so far, my uncle has been testing DVD's and drives since before we all heard of them and he rates them as the best media available!
