anyone know what I should do ?

I rent commercial premises
The owner of the place owes money for an unpaid fine

The bailiff is threatening to remove goods for auction from here and won't listen when I tell them its not my debt, They seem to think that I m lying (which I am not),and say I have to prove all I say is true.

I wasn't even in these premises at the time !!!

I am getting worried now

Anyone help ...Plwase ?

Ring the citizens advice Jan, and don't give them access unless they have a warrant. refuse to open the door to them, and if they ask to come in politely refuse and tell them why.
Do you have a solicitor, he is probably the best way to get advice quickly.
Try this link and see if it helps

Do you have a contract with the landlord - dig it out and show them that. That should be proof enough.

I heard that they are not allowed to open any doors, I once heard about someone who kept his hallway bare and shut all the doors to his other rooms everytime he answered the front door. That way they could come into his hallway but there was nothing to take and he refused to open any other doors.

Try reading the site attached to my previous posting, it's not hearsay but fact. The last thing jan2002 needs is friend of a friend stories. Bailiffs deal in fact not fiction.

okay, i read it.
it says they can't force entry to the proprety. It doesn't mention interior doors and not being able to open them...

I found out the original debt was for a fixed penalty issued in sheffield, and the date of offence
So rang magistrates court and a very helpful lady said she could update the system and stop any action, because I had provided proof it was never my fine eg before I rented this yard.

No apologies for the upset caused or time spent sorting out the mess caused by their private bailiffs.

Still you can't have it all, hopefully that will be the end of it for me.:gag:

They will NOT go into a house which has a dog. 100% fact. I know a bailiff.

Borrow a friends' if you don't have your own.
