I've just come back from town and i am disgusted with what i saw. I was walking past Redvers house when i saw a rat on top of a parking meter then about 20 more steps down the road there was another one right outside the entrance of the new currys that is being fitted.

Has anybody else seen them? Who do I inform to get them removed?

Ring the town hall in the morning, ask for the environmental department.

I'm afraid that you'll experience lots of rats around every city centre you go to.

A few months ago I was in Leeds near the city centre when a couple of large rats ran across the causeway near the Leeds University Student Union.

Some years ago in Richmond, Surrey, I was sitting at a table outside a pub in the High Street and looked down an alley between the pub and the restaurant we were planning on eating in. There were several large rats poddling between the eaterie and the pub.

We ate elsewhere.....

I believe that you're never more than a few metres from a rat in an urban area.

i use to live In Richmond, for about 8 months, we went to a restaurant on a barge/boat next to Richmond bridge, half way through the starter a rat ran across the deck of the boat. Everyone screamed and left the boat. We laughed, and nicked their wine :0)

Ahhh...that's pretty yucky.

Only dead ones I normally see have been beaten up by one of my cats.

As was said, Environmental Health - the rats might have been poisoned so it's probably worth getting them taken away - of course, one of the urban foxes may pop along tonight and deal with them for you....

Wonder where they'd been 'dining out' ?...definitely a place to avoid :suspect:

I'm sure I read somewhere there are more rats than people in the UK !

Are you sure it wasn't innocently putting in a quid for an hours parking???
