I've just moved from Nether Edge to Meersbrook. I get better TV reception in Meersbrook but the freeview tunes in but when ever there is movement on the screen it goes all pixilated. Now when I bought the freeview reciever I was informed that I needed to buy a scart lead for it. I did. In fact it was the cheapest one they had. I remember the girl at the time saying that it was a crap one and it will probbly better off getting a better one (more expensive) My first thought was 'what are you doing selling crap?' (currys) My second thought was ' I bet they're just saying that to try and get me to part with another tenner. So I took the cheap one.
My problem is that if it is the quality of the scart lead i will get another one but I don't want to shell out on a better quality scart lead only to find that the picture still pixilated. Does anyone have any knowledge of this? Can a cheap scart lead cause the picture to go funny? Can anyone help?:help:

This could be caused by poor shielding on the scart cable.

Try wrapping the cable in kitchen foil as tightly as possible (to act as a temp shield). If this works, then I'd try to borrow a higher quality scart lead before commiting myself.

So why can't you return a new scart as 'unsuitable' if it doesn't cure the problem?

Your poor quality scart lead can lead to shadowing, poor audio quality and other visual impairments but not pixelation. Pixelation is because part of the digital signal is incomplete and the scart does not carry a digital signal.

Therefore it IS you aeriel. Might just need adjusting though (i.e pointing in another direction).

I agree that poor scarts cannot cause pixelation. Also the scart leads in Currys, Dixons etc are all pretty rubbish they just want to sell you one which has higher margin for them.

I have two freeview boxes of different models.
They both need a good signa from the aerial.
I live in a poor recetion area so I need a huge aerial to get enough signal to stop the picture pixilating and freezing.
Try looking in the set up to see how strong is you signal.
My new aerial cost £150 to errect, including new cable and brackets.

I have a Panasonic digi box and also suffered a bout of pixillation, I have no aerial upgrades and had been getting a great reception, all I did was to fully retune the reicever, problem sorted, its gotta be worth as try, and free as well
