There is an abandoned filling station that i spotted next door to a pub near asda, any ideas on what that used to be?

Was it BP?, or maybe Fina, hang on, it might have been Total.

it was BP, it's been up to let for use as car sales or car wash. The signs gone now so pressume something should be opening soon.

There are two ex-filling stations in the area that fit the OP's description; there's one up the hill opposite the Norfolk Arms (as mentioned above) and another down the hill on the other side of the parkway next to the White Rose which has been derelict for some years now.

Like your name Angus, I used to listen to ISIRTA when I was a kid.

The one opp Norfolk arms is a car wash now, it's got planning accepted for new build so we'll have to wait and see if the car wash makes enough money to buy the site (looks like it will, very busy).
The old BP next to the white rose did have planning submitted I know the first one was rejected not sure after that. It's been up to Let as a car sales/car wash site, Hale & Saunders where the agents. I beleive a new lease has been signed so there should be some movement on site soon. The rent was £25k p/a, i almost went for it.

It used to be a Mobil filling station with those wierd round things in the roof and round petrol pumps, then it changed to BP then closed.
