I've a bit of a problem with my Outlook. For some reason the option to add new email accounts has vanished and I'm unable to find it anywhere. I've exported all my folders to a .pst file and uninstalled the program hoping to get rid of all the old rubbish and do a completely fresh install but all the old stuff keeps coming back. How can I get rid of it all?

When I reinstalled earlier I had an option to install 3 different types of Outlook and I think I chose the one for networks and businesses instead of pop3 and home use etc. Can anyone help please because I don't know how to change it back.

Hope you can help,

P

Scrap it alltogether and use Thunderbird. It can also import your Outlook settings on first run.
Outlook 2000 is buggy and is a major gateway for spyware / virus onto your mahcines.

I've started using Outlook Express for the time being. I can't use the calendar function or synchronise it with my pocket pc :( but it'll do for now I guess.

I'd rather get this Outlook 200 problem sorted though because it's irritating not knowing how to sort it.

Anyone else?

From memory if you export to a .pst file all the old stuff will keep coming back unless you move that file to a different partition from C - basically because it will pick up on it's presence. If you don't have more than one partition on you machine I recommend that you either put it on a cd or at the very least rename the file and put it in a different folder away from outlook. Then uninstall and try reinstalling again. If you then want access to the emails etc you can then import it back in.

Try that and let me know how you get on.

There are at least two ways around this:

1) Open the Mail icon from the Control Panel. From the services tab, add Internet E-mail. This service looks similar to Outlook Express, and although you're still running Outlook in Corporate / Workgroup mode, you can configure Internet E-mail from there.

2) Open Outlook, and go to Tools -> Options. From the Mail services tab, choose Reconfigure Mail Support... and choose Intenet Only. This will convert Outlook from Corporate / Workgroup to Internet Only. Click next, and read the disclaimer (!). Choose whether to proceed or not. If you do, Outlook will return to Internet mail only mode, looking similar to Outlook Express.
