Well, its a battered old building but with a bit of hard graft, a potential movie palace again? Never been inside so have no idea what fixtures and fittings are left intact?

We can run Chaplin silent films and hire a string quartet for the "orchestra"........packed house everynight, I can see it now....well its a dream of mine anyway...

Does anyone on this FORUM remember it ever being a cinema, it closed in 1960 apparently.

I wish someone would do something with it, as it is a horrible eye sore right now.
Here's a bit more information (http://www.chrishobbs.com/crookespicturepalace.htm)

The estate Management company are sending me a brochure.....might be worth doing something with I guess.....not many of these former cinemas come on the market. Its probably a total mess inside....

The developers had planning permission refused in September. - having seen the proposals for the "Crookes Tower" it came as no suprise. As I was walking past yesterday the boards were down and the floor was filled with all types of furniture - sofas, tables etc.

I assume this is a temporary arrangment until te developers get second wind so to speak

Nice idea, to open as a cinema, but I think you will find a bare unit which is best suited to a shop unit. All the remains of any cinema equipment or fittings would likely have dissappeared years ago.

I went in ther a few years ago when it was a discount store, as muddycoffee says ther was no evidence that the building had ever been a cinema. :(
I wonder what happened to the original frontage? It was infinitely more attractive then the flat, square front that is there now.
