Hi,

For our wedding we are thinking about having a string quartet or trio for about a couple of hours max. Anyone recommend any? I tried simply strings but they were very expensive :)

Hi chick,

I don't actually know any, but if you do go for a string trio, check what instruments are involved. Some have 2 violins (1st and 2nd) and a cello, but some have a violin, a viola and a cello. I find that the ones including violas make a fuller sound :)
String quartets usually have 2 violins (1st and 2nd), a viola and a cello which sounds lovely!

I used to play in quintet including 2 violas, 2 violins and a cello!!

(I'm biased btw, because I play viola, but the viola does make a difference because it's the inbetweeny sound between a violin and a cello! Unfortunately it's a bit of a dying heart and there aren't that many people interested in playing viola anymore :()

we've booked simply strings and from our investigation they are actually cheaper than alot. After all you are paying for 3/4 peoples time. its about 450 for 2 hours and we had some quoting up to £600.
