I am wanting to book a mini cruise for my boyfriends birthday in May, probably to Amsterdam and just wondered if any of you have been on them?
Are they any good and where do you think is the best place to go for a couple of 23 year olds? Also who did you use? I have been looking at P&O Ferries.
Thanks

Ive been with P&O to both Amsterdam and Brugges. IMHO Brugges is a lot more attractive than Amsterdam in the daytime. The boats are good and I would advise booking a meal it really was good value.

Rhine cruises are quite nice, and in may at the start of summer the weather could be fantastic. you'd have to fly to and from germany but it would be a pleasant few days.

amsterdam is ok - looks like darnall when its raining though.

don't do norway - rooms are shocking, no seating to speak of and not much else either.

i'm looking at a day trip to francais with P&O.

i've done amsterdam, hamburg and a place in denmark, and it's amsterdam all the way for me - a more interesting place and more time actually spent there

I did Norway with Fjordline - it wasn't that bad!!

Okay, I would recommend paying extra to stay in the nice rooms (they're still pretty cheap) and the food on the boat is pretty dire.

But how else could you get to see such a fabulous country so easily?? Our time in Bergen was short but memorable and we had a right laugh on the boat. It was Valentines Day and I just remember drinking and dancing as the boat crossed some pretty choppy seas and it was just something I'll remember forever.

I guess it depends what you're looking for - I wanted to visit Norway and this was the only way we could afford to do it; the journey was just a means to an end as far as I was concerned. I suppose if you are going on the trip specifically for a birthday and want to enjoy very minute of it, including the journey, Fjordline may not be the best option.

We go every year with p&o. Never had a problem until this year, when they cancelled our crossing. The boats are very nice, cabins comfortable, food nice etc. The coaches to Amserdam / Brugges are prompt and vey comfortable.

I would say go to Amsterdam, it is much better for the younger ones. Brugges is lovely, but can be a little boring. The boats that go to Rotterdam are bigger and newer too.

Cheers for that squeakyclean, Think it will probably be Amsterdam anyway. Glad to hear its good nice enough a trip to make you want to go back every year!
Cheers everyone
