I dont like dogs as a rule because they like to bite me, but if I was allowed one, Id go for a German Shepherd.

I liked Old English Sheepdogs since I was about 8 years old.

This month I adore Bassett Hounds - I haven't seen any for ages then I saw one 2 weeks ago and fell in love with him.

I'm seroiusly wanting to get a dog - and one of my top five favourite breeds is the Japanese Spitz with German Spitz coming in close second!!

It's Rhodesian Ridgebacks for me - love everything about them!

Possibly would have had a Ridgey pup about now if a certain beautiful Ridgey cross hadn't caught our eye!! :D

Thats what I was going to say... we had two ridgebacks when I was a kid and they're lovely. I just saw one bounding around meersbrook park at lunchtime and it reminded me how lovely they are..:thumbsup:

I really rather like Irish wolf hounds, Newfoundlands, lurchers and Silukis. They're the same sort of scale as me (unfortunately my house is Yorkshire terrier sized though).

That might be Sazzy's ridgeback, she lives near Meersbrook Park and he loves to bound!!

i can honestly say that i dont have a fave type of dog,its all down to the individual i reckon! If i was forced to choose,itd have to be the incredibly common Heinze 57 breed! :hihi:

I haven't voted as I love a few different breeds.

Of course I love Labradors (though I admit to thinking they were a bit boring before we got the Chocador).

But I also love Cavaliers, and have a fondness for most types of terrier, as they have such terrific personalities.

I was merely expanding on the suggestion by a previous poster who suggested 2 -3 other breeds ought to have been added to the list- that being the case, why not expand the original list to a recognised top 20 AND other.

Hi I am new to the forum. I am the crazy owner of 4 yes 4 cavliers.. So of course the best are cavalier king charles spaniels.
I have two rehomed ex breeding bitches and two sub standard by breeders standards boys all wonderful.

My mum and I have mongrels (sisters) Black and white jack russell (somewhere) cross and they are two of the nicest natured dogs you could ever meet.

I have seen that he's not the only dog who has this problem with this breed.

I love GSDs and dont have a problem with them. There are 2 breeds of dog which almost always try to have a go at our dobermutt- the westie and the staffie, having said that, I grew up with a westie and I really dont mind staffies, just wouldnt be able to own one with the dramaqueen dobermut.

for me it has to be the "staffy", excellent little dog, will take as much or as little exercise as you can give, tremendously loyal, great with kids. alas due to nature of the breed when kept in wrong hands has lead to a reputation the breed doe's not deserve.

personally i have had two,my first died of old age and my second was put to sleep after contracting liver cancer.

alas due to work commitments we don't have a "staffy" ar present but we do have a little yorkie, who is full of character,he is a little easier for my mother-in-law ( she lives next door) to look after while my wife and i are at work

as the forum pet groups sled-dog officianado, have to say mostly offended siberian husky is not on the list :( ........so voted 'other':rolleyes:

Absolutly love Rotties, I own a gorgeous boy, who is the most softest, daftist thing you could come across. I agree its how they brought up, I would trust him 100% with my kids.

Someone posted a picture not that long back of a Rhodesian Ridgeback pup. He looked lovely but I bet they can be quite a handful as they get bigger.

English Bull Terrier for me, although Rotties are fast becoming a favourite too.

There are 3 or 4 male Rotties near us and they're all gorgeous. Our EBT is in love with them all (she's such a tart).

It has to be a rottie for me:D

so my vote has to go for a mastiff of some type - the more slobbery gets the vote

Without a doubt Basenji.

I love Old Englishes. I grew up with one and he was the daftest, soppiest dog you could ever know! He was expensive mind, my dad had him clipped roughly every 6 months and he would go through a big sack of food a week. I'd love to have another, but our Lurcher is enough at the minute, he's getting older (he's nearly 8 ) but still acts like a 1 year old puppy!

Whatever Bonzo is then that is my favourite......his Mummy is dalmation - the father could either be collie, staffy or labrador.

If it went on the basis that the dogs get to look like their owners then my favourite would be a Red Setter in the vain hope that I would get to look like it! :D

I've had three JRT's, 2 Staffies, and an English BT, as well as the raggy-baggy, tatty bogle very old lad I have now, who is a mixture:- mother fox terrier X whippet , father a cairn-y Westie cross.

Boxer is my fave breed,i have a boxer now and i think ill always have a boxer.
