Hi,

I'm wanting to go to London on the 27th April to the 29th but cannot find a reasonable fare!

Ive tried everything, playing with times, doing it as two singles and trying to split the journey, ie, buying a ticket to doncaster then from there to london but nothing seems to work! :help:

i really want to go that weekend as my friend is in a play and unfortunately cant go for any longer as i have work.

Am playing to take friday afternoon off so can go from aroud 2 o'clock and come back anything on sunday.

Does anyone who does this regularly have any suggestions?? i'm completely stuck! Really i only want to be paying around £30 max.

Thanks.

Do you have to go on the train? The coach is probably cheaper.

have you checked with national express (http://www.nationalexpress.com), the journey takes a bit longer and the times aren't so flexible but it's a lot cheaper

Indeed, a quick check on http://www.megabus.com/uk/ suggests you can do it for a £5 each way if you don't mind the increased journey time.

Try Midland Mainline's website, they've had offers for singles being £9, so essentially a return for £18. But availability varies and you can't always travel on every train.

There's always one!!!!

If you look on www.midlandmainline.com and book the journey on 2 single tickets (not a return), you get the cheaper rates.

There is a train to London at either 17.30 or 18.30 which costs £15.50 one way with the same return costing £8.00 so you'd still only pay £23.50.

sorry just read about the timings, there is a train from Sheffield at 14.27 on the Friday for £11.50.

Who were you checking with before?

All the cheap midlandmainline trains are from Sheffield to St Pancras, no need to go via Doncaster.

The offer has been running for about the last 2yrs, it used to be £6 each way but recently went up to £7 each way. Very reasonible though.

You'll be able to get the Capital ticket which is around £19 at the times you've suggested.
Give the call centre a ring or book online

On a friday afternoon I'd recommend 1st class, at the moment the cheapest 1st to St Pancs is showing as £18, cheapest 1st return is £23.

Well worth it to get a quiet coach, lots of space, coffee, wine and water served at the table and snacks too.
