View Full Version : Wireless problems.. *Ryan* 29-03-2007, 08:45 Howdy. Does a firewall ever interfere with a wireless connection, as mine just seems to have cut out..?!? esme 29-03-2007, 10:24 it's never interfered with my wifi connection, depending on it's settings it may stop you connecting to other devices on your local network or seeing the internet though what firewall have you got, standard windows or something else ? sallonoroff 29-03-2007, 10:48 Does a firewall ever interfere with a wireless connection, as mine just seems to have cut out Well, if everything was working ok, and all you've done since just before it 'cut out' is installed a firewall then i would guess that is problem. . *Ryan* 29-03-2007, 10:49 it's never interfered with my wifi connection, depending on it's settings it may stop you connecting to other devices on your local network or seeing the internet though what firewall have you got, standard windows or something else ? think ive got 2, windows and norton.. But its just simply cut out.. Whether its that or not im not sure.. Nightmare! fnkysknky 29-03-2007, 11:11 Only use 1 firewall at a time and yes a firewall will 'interfere' with a wireless connection the same as it will a wired i.e. it can filter packets which could cause the connection to not work if set up incorrectly or in the case of Norton it's crashed as it's prone to do. esme 29-03-2007, 11:14 norton will have disabled the windows firewall so you won't have two firewalls running how is your wifi set up ? do you have a usb wifi adapter. wifi card inside a desktop PC, wifi built in to a laptop or something else *Ryan* 29-03-2007, 12:21 norton will have disabled the windows firewall so you won't have two firewalls running how is your wifi set up ? do you have a usb wifi adapter. wifi card inside a desktop PC, wifi built in to a laptop or something else A laptop with adapter.. Maybe its not the firewall, im just looking at options really.. esme 29-03-2007, 16:03 you have a usb wifi adaptor on your laptop have you tried removing it, restarting the machine and then reinserting it ? usb wifi can be a bit flakey in my experience |
