Dunno if anyone else on the board has had a letter from them like my fiancee's step mom.

The letter goes summat like this..

"Great Universal are rethinking their policies on returns and have now decided that because you have returned more items than an average customer that we feel the catalog is no use to you"

"We have now stopped your account and your ability to make orders ....."

My fiancees stepmom is ALWAYS upto date with her payments and has been a member of the catalog for 10+ years.

I would love to know the thinking that goes on in the brains of some of the people that work at GU catalog.

I think it is complete ****e that her account should be suspended just because she is sending clothes back if they dont fit right-- why buy them if they are of ****e quality and dont fit???

Anyone else get this letter????

Hi Angelus,

Not any direct experience but from doing teh odd bit of work in logistics I would say that one of the desk chair polishers at GU has realised that they can make more money by not processing returns....

Returns handling is one of those areas of mail order that is a potential nightmare for companies if they don't get it right. And it soudns ike GU don't have it right.

It's no reflection on your fiancee's step mum - more a reflection on their inability to deliver the goods that meet the requirements, and then on their own ability to develop a returns process that is cost effective for their business.

I wonder how GU are doing in general financially?
