Hi,

Been meaning to start this thread for a few days; anyways, I had stupidly left my mobile in the north, and after being on the coach for a while I had discovered this. However, when I got about an hour away dad wanted me to ring so he could pick me up from Victoria. However, I did not have my mobile with me...
So, embaressingly having to ask around, it was only after the fourth person reluctantly said "yeah, sure".

So, I pose the question - would you have trusted me to use your mobile for a couple of mins. to make a call. (well it was two actually).

Cheers
Alex

Depending on the circumstances of the call you would need to make my answer is yes.......

Remember payphones still exist though.

Yes, sure - but not on a coach at 9 at night.

I would have lent it to you, as you were on a coach you were hardly going to run off with it. I may have butted in though if your call was begining to drag on bit. Not sure i would lend someone in the street my phone though, not unless i had good running trainers on.

I've offered my phone for use on a few occasions over the years. The main issue for me in deciding is whether I've got money on the darn thing and whether or not I liked the look of the individual.

At the risk of incurring the accusations of stereotyping, I'd be happier to allow a little old lady sitting opposite me on a train to use my phone than I would a faux-Burberry wearing, bling bearing, baseball-capped denizen of the lower reaches.....:)

Also, I'm probably happier to lend my phone than most because it's such an old phone that most villains would probably leave it with me and advise me to get something worth nicking...:)

It's something that I've done on several occasions without thinking. I've also had to ask total strangers if I could use theirs and never had a refusal.

I have lent my phone to total strangers several times and would nearly always do so as one day if I needed to use someone elses I hope a total stranger would say yes and lend me their`s.

I would depending on the time - I get free minutes off peak so wouldn't bother me then, but not sure about if it was in the day!! I don't even use my phone in the day to try and keep my bills down.

Course I would Alex, because i'm just THAT nice. :D

A stranger has asked me before and reluctantly let them use it... Depends where and when... and who you are.

I might do, although it would be under the strict instructions to not be on long and no long distance calls to Australia.

i'd say yes.........when i was working in the pub it happened to me 3 or 4 times a week..usually for a taxi..as i'm on the 3 network and never use all my free minuets its not a prob lending mi phone out for a min or 2

depends...if I had plenty of credit on it, and there was no chance of you attempting to do a runner with it (ie on a train/coach etc), then I probably would. But if my credit was low or it was out in the street, then Id probably decline.

Of course, no problem Alex. Here you go!

However, you would need to leave me your credit cards and your trousers as security!!

A very kind lady lent me her mobile in Moscow airport so that I could ring the UK to make an urgent call. Unbeliveably there were NO PAYPHONES in the entire building and the staff were extremely unhelpful in my quest. It made me wonder what would happen in a life or death emergency.
