View Full Version : Eye colour diversity
papillon 28-03-2007, 13:40 I'm interested in doing an eye colour photo project - I've always been fascinated by the range of eye colours, and would love to take a wide range of close-up eye photos. I've already done this with my family (see here (http://www.neuroticcamel.com/photoblog/index.php?showimage=486)) with pretty interesting results.
It's not for any kind of course/work assignment, purely for interest. Would anyone be up for this?
[Mine are light green, with a light brown ring around the pupil.]
me and you are both green eyed then, leading the pole at 100%, i can't imagine that being the case for long.
Mine are bluey/green...
I have to be awkward..:D
butterflylou 28-03-2007, 14:22 Mine are blue, my husbands are blue and my son has blue eyes aswell!
I'm hazel...NOT brown. It's interesting, as my nan had eyes that were mostly blue with a browny/green ring around the middle. My dad's are kind of half and half, and mine are mostly browny/green with a blue bit around the outside that gets bigger in the light. :D Tis interesting stuff!

That'd follow, in terms of eye colour genetics :) If both parents are blue-eyed, it's almost impossible that the child will be anything other than blue-eyed, unless the child's grandparents had different colour eyes.
astronaut77 28-03-2007, 14:27 Ooh i love eye colour. Mine are blue with a dark blue rim around the iris.
I love it when someone has really pale blue eyes with a rim around - always been jealous of that!
cgksheff 28-03-2007, 14:47 Mine are blue, my husbands are blue and my son has blue eyes aswell!
Just as well. Eh? :)
SaxonLeigh 28-03-2007, 14:59 i dont know why i posted brown on the poll by mistake. i actually have deap blue eyes with a deep green flash in the middle. my partner has hazel eyes.
Plain Talker 28-03-2007, 15:19 A friend of mine has the most startling bright blue eyes, tinged, naturally with very dark lashes. I was always very jealous of her eyes.
I inherited my mother's eye colour, a very dark, grey-blue, which look a little strange against my very blonde hair.
When I put mascara on my eyelashes, my eyes look identical to my cousin's, right down to the colour. It's like my cousin looking back at me in the mirror. (it's funny cos my cousin's mother in law has always said how she can't tell cuz and I apart on the telephone. We sound so alike)
edit to add, a lad who was in my class at school had one blue eye, and the other was half-and-half brown-and-blue. odd!
TheBlueDragon 28-03-2007, 15:32 Mine are all over the place, I have a rare condition where one of my eyes changes colour depending on the pressure behind it. It changes from brwon to green to blue

My Mum has a brown stripe in her left (green) eye. From Wikipedia:
Heterochromia (also known as a heterochromia iridis or heterochromia iridium) is an ocular condition in which one iris is a different color from the other iris (complete heterochromia), or where the part of one iris is a different color from the remainder (partial heterochromia or sectoral heterochromia). It is a result of the relative excess or lack of pigment within an iris or part of an iris, which may be inherited or acquired by disease or injury.
Jabberwocky 28-03-2007, 15:38 Mine are blue, the other halfs are green, and my kids are all blue.
I have one green eye and two purple eyes. I don't know if you should believe me, if you don't, how about two mahogony coloured beauties!
Mine used to be a really dark blue, but they are now a light bluey/grey.
BobbyBunny 28-03-2007, 16:13 Mine are greeny grey, just like my dads, and just like my grandads :D I have inherited all the traits of the males in my dad's family, like the heart problem, weird eyes... and I'm a girl :D:P
Everyone in my family has dark brown eyes, with the exception of my Nan, who has green.
Ginger_Kitty 28-03-2007, 19:54 I have fabulously green eyes :D
my dad has brown and my mum has green... none of my grandparents had/have green eyes either...
Me and my mum have blue eyes- but my dad and sister have identical bright green (the lucky people!).
lizzmobile 28-03-2007, 21:43 Mine are very much like the pair in the photo; second row down, left hand pair
The family? OH has bright blue eyes, son has green, daughter has deepest chocolate brown and twins have beautiful dark blue. All different.
papillon 28-03-2007, 21:47 Mine are very much like the pair in the photo; second row down, left hand pair
Oh, that's my eye :)
lizzmobile 28-03-2007, 21:49 I did wonder after what you'd said in you OP :D Nice!
GothicCharm 28-03-2007, 21:49 bright blue or when i cry deep dark blue. boyfriend's eyes are pretty and bright blue too.
lizzmobile 28-03-2007, 21:52 My dad's change colour according to his emotion. They get really, really bright blue when he's very happy or tearful (yes, I get it from him :D)
dynamicdebz 28-03-2007, 21:56 All my families eyes are blue apart from 2 of my kids who have brown eyes from their father.
However my fella has brown eyes but his father has blue eyes, mother has green eyes & his 2 siblings have green & blue eyes. Must be a throw back.
muckynees 28-03-2007, 22:01 Mine are blue with one of em having a tiny speck of brown, my OH are brown and our kids are blue, me and kids get commented on for having blue eyes and really dark hair!

Well that's my second new thing learnt for the day. Didn't know it was called that! My mum has this really striking I love it. Mine has a huge brown dot. Myself and my sister have changable eye syndrome. They go really green when i am tired or aroused, blue when i go somewhere cold and a sort of hazel/grey at other times. i like them green best (for the second reason! lol!)
purdyamos 29-03-2007, 01:38 Mine are hazel, but both my parents had pale grey/blue eyes. I don't understand that, because I thought at least one parent had to have the colour gene - though my knowledge of dominant/recessive genes is a bit hazy.
Unless there's something they're not telling me... :suspect:
Well I've added one more to the brown eyed lot.
Everyone will have brown eyes eventually. look.....

And a bright yellow face? :hihi:
nanrobbo 29-03-2007, 04:39 My eyes do change colour grey/blue/blueygreen- depends on mood I think.
My daughters eyes are greeny/blue and my husbands eyes are a very light blue.
GoGo_dancer 29-03-2007, 07:42 Mine are pale aqua blue with a dark blue rim, and I also have a brown 'freckle' in one of them.
If I've been crying they go a funny lilac colour!
My husband has lovely dark blue eyes, almost like a navy blue....
carmencarter 29-03-2007, 08:17 Hazel eyes, green in the sun.
Mum has "dark hazel" eyes ( well, it's not the same hazel as mine) and dad has green-blue eyes.
BobbyBunny 29-03-2007, 09:35 Mine change colour too.. when I'm angry they're bright green but when I'm upset they go a kinda grey-green colour. And they have a really dark green band around the irises.. weird :hihi:

Must be really easy for your other half... come home, look into your eyes, see they're bright green, leave house, goto pub:hihi:
And a bright yellow face? :hihi:
..quite possibly, do all smileys have liver problems?:suspect: <not that one:hihi:
