Has anyone any ideas what music/songs to have for a civil wedding? I have my music to walk down to, but then need 4/ 5 songs whilst signing the register? Think I have my first dance sorted although it is cheesy I love it! But any further ideas for that would also be great, Thanks!

We are having a civil ceremony and couldnt decide what music we wanted to walk down the aisle to. Im hoping we are going to have a string quartet. :) Our song for our first dance is Aerosmith-Dont want to miss a thing.

Im sure your song isnt cheesy, if it means something to you and your partner then thats all that matters :)

we are soo stuck for songs. keep listening to our love songs albums and going "oh i like that one" then when we sit down and talk about it can't remember which ones i liked! :hihi:

We had DJ sammy "heaven" (the slow version) playing while we signed the register. It was soooo nice.

We didn't go for love songs, jsut our favourite music.
I walked down the aisle to Kate Rusby's 'Lark', followed on with 'You belong to me' ;) :hihi: also by Kate and then had a whole cd of the rest of our fav songs for the time after that.
For the meal afterwards we had classical piano music (Ludovico Einaudi) throughout.

We are having 'Perfect Moment' while I walk down the aisle, and we've chosen our first dance song but we are also stuck for something while we sign the register, currently thinking of 'A Moment Like This' or something similar!

going for pachebell's (sp?) canon for walking down the aisle and a medly of sigur ros and songs by the killers and other bands played by string quartets (from the strung out.. cds!).. haven't decided on what to walk out to.. also, we think we're going for Crowded House - Fall at your feet as the first dance

We had Kenny G's the wedding song and then Matt Monroes Portrait of my Love for during the ceromony. We came out to Love and Marriage - LOL

My mate walked down the aisle to Craig David's Unbeleivable. Sounds cheesy but it was lovely.

We had a nightmare choosing songs for our registry office as we dont have "a song" as such, well not one that would be suitable for a wedding. I bet if I asked all my guests what songs we had, they wouldnt know, so I would choose whatever you like, cheesy or not. :thumbsup:

me and my partner are thinking of aving mary j blige-you are evetything.i love the intro music at the beginning,even thought the songs quite modern the intro music reminds me of something from motown so i think even the older guests will like.also the lyrics of the song really tie in with the meaning of love and marriage,haaaaaaaaa.:hihi:

I walked down the aisle to Norah Jones - Nearness of You

We had soul/motown records playing before and after the ceremony and I remember standing outside the ceremony room jigging along to 'It Takes Two'!!

Then we had more Motown to sign the register -
Marvin Gaye - How sweet it is to be loved by you
Barry White - The first, the last, my everything
and we slipped in 'Bring Me Sunshine' by Morcambe and Wise which brought a few smiles!

We then walked out to The Darkness - I believe in a thing called love!!

I always say to my other half that when we get married we are having 'Every day I love you less and less' by The Kaiser Chiefs. Just to see the look on the guests faces! :)

I am going to have simply strings, i saw them play at Wortley Hall wedding fayre and they were really good!

I thought I'd ressurect this thread! I've just spent 4 hours driving on the motorway listening to a whole host of favourite songs, and am still no nearer to picking anything for our wedding! I just wondered if anyone else had any suggestions for civil wedding music? :help:

We ended up having Instamental to walk down to, Van morrison-Someone like you, D.J Sammy-Heaven (slow version!) and the Beatles Love- to walk out to.

We're going for "Fly me to the Moon" - the Nat King Cole version, for going in, an instrumental version when signing the register, and an all versions megamix for going out to:)

It's not like it's our favourite song, just that it's sweet and says it all...

we ended up having canon to walk into, 3 sigur ros tracks whilst signing the register and then the killers - its indie rock and roll for me - not because it's a love song (which it isn't, I don't think) but because we both like it and it's fun!
