I have a bath seat etc fitted by the social services.I was referred to them when I was in hospital, but I"m sure your GP would arrange for someone to visit you and assess your wife"s gran"s needs

The other thing you could do is to contact the British Red Cross, who do short term loans of medical equipment.

I'll dig out a link.

Don't shout dear! (capitals) :)

Check out the mobility shop on the Wicker.

They have stuff to help with bathing. I'm sure they will be able to tell you about any help you can get with funding (pretty sure owning that you owning your own place won't eliminate you).

It doesn"t matter if you own your own place or not.Equipment would be provided free of charge to suit a persons needs, after being assessed.

Social services are likely to be able to help ... you're saving them a lot of time, money and effort taking on the responsibility of looking after an older person and I'm sure there's plenty of help available. Contacting the council is probably the place to start.

The likelihood is that social services will be able to offer lots of help, but there's likely to be a wait for things, which is where people like the Red Cross come in- they're great for bridging the gap between need and provision.

If she needs loan of a push wheelchair shopmobility hire them out free of charge. Also if suitable she can hire electric scooter to go round the shops for a small fee.

Seem to recall that the NHS may also provide this sort of service.
