just in most relationships the man is taller than the woman
is your man taller than you
or is your woman taller than you

Needs to be slightly taller, but more important to have broad shoulders & nice eyes. ;)

I've noticed that frequently petite women on the whole go for MUCH larger men where as 'average' sized women tend to go for more 'average' sized men. Are they trying to average out the height of all the people on earth?

It's a good job I'm not insistent on my man being taller than me, or I'd spend my life rather lonely- I'm taller than all bar a very few men.

As far as I'm concerned, it's not important. It would be an issue if he had an issue with my height, since I can't change how tall I am, but luckily there are men in the world who are self-assured enough to not be threatened by a woman who's taller than them.

I dont lfind men attractive if they're really tall. I'm 5' 8'' and I feel insecure if someone is more than a couple of inches taller than me.....

overall I say I tend to go for 'short' men, but I dont find blokes who are really short attractive either.

My usband is about 5' 9'' and I think he's gorgeous!

So how do you go on when snogging them ?

Well- it depends on how much shorter than me he is!

My ex-hubby is 5'8, so if I was in heels he'd have to stand on the bottom step or something, but BF's a little over 6', so he's just having to get used to kissing uphill.

Or I develop a stoop.

Or sit down.

My recent ex was about 16 or 17 inches taller than me. If we were both stood up sometimes he would have to stoop down a bit and I would reach up. :)

Lying down was sooooooooooo much better. ;) :)

My Mum always used to tell me that it p*****d her off(not her exact words) that all the short lasses pulled all the nice tall ones when she was young. (She's 5'8, which I guess in the dark ages was tall for a woman*).

Not quite sure where my height came from as my Dad isn't much taller than her. (we had a tall milkman though*:suspect:)

*just as well my Mum doesn't frequent the SF, or I'd be in for an ass-kicking:hihi:

Tall men are useful to get all the stuff off the top shelf when shopping. They don't have to get ladders out to get something off the ceiling. And you can use their heads as dusters.

When I was a store manager I always used to employ at least one tall person. :hihi:

There was a guy in the Nursery Tavern the other Friday and people couldn't take their eyes off him. He was the sole topic of conversation as people went past! I've never seen anyone so tall. :wow: He looked like the guy from The Green Mile. We asked him his height in the end as my mate ,who is tall, seemed dwarfed by him. He said 6' 7" but I think he was way taller than that as a bloke who was 6' 4" was stood next to him and looked frankly tiny. All his mates seemed about 4 foot in comparison. He seemed a lovely bloke and he let my mate go first! My mate who is 5' 1" kept making lewd comments about body parts meeting other body parts! lol!

Personally I prefer tall lanky blokes but that's just personal preference but i spent my twenties with a bloke who was 5 7" so who knows?

However all the famous people i seem to find attractive are short! Alex Turner - tiny, Kelly Jones, tiny, Tom Thumb.... obviously big ego makes up for shortness.

I would wax lyrical about the benefit of long arms but this is a family forum!

Why do people feel the need to ask a tall person their height?

If you saw an obese person, would you ask them how much they weighed? I doubt it.

My ex is 6ft 7 and strangers often ask him his height. He was/is quite a shy person and self-conscious about his height and he hated it when asked about it. He is a polite person and would answer their question but never seemed to want to continue in conversation with them.

It got to the stage where I even got fed up of people asking him. We can't help how tall/short we are but some people seem to think it's ok to ask how tall someone is whereas they wouldn't ask someone how small they were or how much they weighed. :(

Hear hear! If someone has a problem with my height then that's their problem not mine. It's not as though I could change it to please them anyway- but I wouldn't want to change it (ok, so maybe under 6' would be easier for buying clothes- but then I'd have to find people in crowds the same as everyone else, and lose half the storage space in my kitchen!).

Hear hear! If someone has a problem with my height then that's their problem not mine. It's not as though I could change it to please them anyway- but I wouldn't want to change it (ok, so maybe under 6' would be easier for buying clothes- but then I'd have to find people in crowds the same as everyone else, and lose half the storage space in my kitchen!).

if someone has a problem with your height, its more a problem with themselves than you anyway. lack of confidence possibly? insecurities?

...If people think its wrong then they can get stuffed, they dont know what they are missing if they are limiting themselves to a minority of the genepool
It isn't wrong. People go for what they're attracted to. If a short (or tall) bloke doesn't do it for them, then they'll choose someone who does (taking into account personality etc etc ).

Not everyone in the gene pool is a woman's (or blokes's) potential mate, as they're not all equally attractive to that person. People will always limit themselves to a small proportion of the gene pool, due to many other factors than height.

I didnt say it was wrong. Theres a difference between being attracted to it or not. I mean i know people who have fancied someone, but not gone out with them because they were too tall/short, and were pretty much more bothered about how it looks to others then how they would be together. Its shallow in that case.

I didn't say you did. You said: "If people think its wrong then they can get stuffed". I was (sort of) agreeing with you.

Im 5ft 6 and my girlfriend is 5 ft 9. we have no problems, we've been together 3 years now and never had a single argument or falling out whatsoever, and the height thing has never bothered either of us. If people think its wrong then they can get stuffed, they dont know what they are missing if they are limiting themselves to a minority of the genepool

Too right. Nothing whatsoever to do with them or anyone else. I like your attitude.

Quite possibly.

As I said earlier, my ex was a good 17ins taller than me. One of his parents commented on the difference in our heights saying we would look stupid together. :(

Being 5” 2” all men are taller than me anyway but I do find that I get a crick in my neck if I have to reach up too far.

I'm a shorty but my fella is 6ft 3 which is handy for changing lightbulbs without getting the ladders out, good for dusting in the corners, pretty handy for cleaning windows and a right pain in the neck when walking with an umbrella!
ALways preferred fellas taller than me but it's never been an issue as most people are taller than me anyway!

The 'average height' women hold their umbrellas at just my eye level, I've never understood why they make them with loads of pointed sticking out bits. I hate walking in the rain when in a heavily populated area:hihi:

I'm pretty sure the few that are of similar height to me can relate to this (John Locke, Jonnh, Medusa and Sharpsinger)

Oh yes! Umbrellas (and specifically shorter people using umbrellas and totally forgetting that they have loads of points sticking out above their heads!) are one of my pet hates. Deeply unpleasant feeling hemmed in with so many sharp things if you're in town when it's rainy.

well, I have my glasses to protect my eyes from the brollies, but it can be a trial walking down fargate in the rain, I tend to just lengthen my stride and blaze a trail, a bit like richard ashcroft in that verve video. :hihi:

It's the protective thing (along with the broad shoulders).

I'm considered quite tall in my community at only 5'6. The number of guys my parents introduced me to that were around my height or shorter :|

I think it is... Its very nice to have a hug from a taller guy... :) Kinda makes you feel safe :)

I guess it makes me feel more feminine to have a taller man... Cant quite put it into words but I feel that I attempt to exert more power over men my own height or marginally taller and thus bossy power-mad Twinkle comes out... haha! But with a taller man I smile and giggle and get all girly haha strange!

haha well not very tall chaps... perhaps within the regions of 5ft 11 to 6ft2...
I'd have to go shopping for larger heels if the fellas were too tall! :D

What gets me is those men who suffer from Small Man Syndrome! The ones who drive the massive cars, acting as though they're 'hard' down town on a night out etc. Had a mate like that once, and in the end he told me that his insecurities boiled down to him being short that he felt he needed to do something to be noticed. He was (and still is) 5'5", but still has plenty of g/f's

I'm 6'1" with a deep voice and broad shoulders. I used to be called Frank all the time (after a certain boxer), but I'm not bothered now! Water of a ducks back!

I've had women say I'm too tall and they're about 5'6"-5'7"(which I didn't get), but I suppose it all boils down to the preferences of individuals.

Good job you didn't want to pull- cos I'm already taken (and thankfully he understands that tall women have their advantages).
