Hiya,

You may be thinking not another blooming thread on these people, but after doing a search there wasn't actually an appropriate threasd for my mini-moan to go in.

Anyways, on Saturday I boarded the 95 or 96 - not sure, it's run by First - bus from Walkley area, and as I was unsure of where we going/get off I said:
"same place as the guy infront is going" (this was a relative, not a complete stranger :P)
"Eh?"
"Adult fair to where the guy infront is going"
*Miserable, I-really-can't-be-bothered-to-do-this-job* tone "£1.10, lad" (take ticket) "Cheers"
He then speeds off down the hill.

And then, I get it again - on the tram to the Centertainment place - other relative pays - "and what about you're son :P, he should have a Yorkshire pass (or something similar sounding to that) "oh no, he's not from round here" He then after telling me that I should hae one of these Yorkshire passes, reluctantly gives me a ticket.

However, going to Meadowhell on Monday, the bus and tram drivers were OK - must have got them on a bad day, or are they always like that up (t)here?

Cant see anything in the first point... not sure if im mis-reading it, or its just me, but nothing that would make me pay attention and recall it later

as for the tram thing - yes, you do need a megatravel pass to prove you are a) under 16 and b) a resident of south yorkshire, if you are not, then you are not entitled to the concessionary fares.

Give it a rest! :)

Not quite on topic, but you did mention the 95.

I don't catch the 95 much anymore but I was going to have dinner with friends in Walkley.

There was an absolutely charming lad driving today at about 6:20. I gave him 80p in what could only be described as small change, and then I couldn't find my tram pass (travel adda ticket - any bus journey is 80p if you have a tram pass).

He didn't even complain about the change. And he let me off without showing the pass (which I found in my pocket later).

The woman after me paid with a £20 and he was very polite and nice about it. He also waited for a girl who was running for the bus at the next stop.

He was a good driver too. He gave cyclists plenty of room.

So, if you were the young lad driving the 95 at about 6:20 today: Good on ya!

As an out-of-towner myself I don't rate the bus drivers attitudes or road manners up here AT ALL.

All my friends and family who have visited have said the exact same. Forget a poor city centre giving this place a bad name, look to the privately run public transport for starters!

No real quarms about the tram though, except when the driver pulls off when your hand is on the door open button!
