Ok, so you may remember some time ago i asked about 2 way radio for my school? Well we bought 10 Motorola XTN446's, and have been happy with them ever since. However, now we have 2 members of staff working with potentially violent pupils who require to be in 2 way radio contact in case the child kicks off, or runs. This is where we have an issue. We spend £150 on 4 Motorola T5622's but have had to send them back becuase they just arent powerful enough (the head doesnt know yet and he controls the purse strings), so now the issue is, hes probably not going to want to spend £127 each for 4 new XTN's, but they are the only radio that is powerful enough for our requirements. So my task now is to find an alternative supplier of the XTN for as little £ as possible! Ebay seems to be cheapest but the school cannot buy off ebay due to financial regs. I am happy to buy them but we have no gaurntee that they will work, and if they dont, that we will get our money back!
So! I need 4 XTN's for less than £400! Do-able?
There's these new ones on Ebay for £74.99 + £7.95 p&p (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/MOTOROLA-XTN446-TWO-WAY-RADIO-XTN-446_W0QQitemZ300094771535QQcategoryZ72405QQssPageN ameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item300094771535 ) might be worth sending the seller an email

EDIT:
I seem to be wrong, these are only microphones for that model... Thought it was a bit cheap!

I work for a two way radio distributor based in Chesterfield (I live in Sheffield though).
The Motorola XTN446 is a good entry level radio... far superior to any of the 'twin pack' radios that you can pick up for around £75.00.
Unfortunately the XTN446 has now been deleted and superceded by the XTNi446 radio. A smaller and more attractive version, and slightly more expensive...
My honest opinion is that you get what you pay for... end of. If you want a radio that is going to last then you buy a decent brand and more importantly a decent model.
I may well have some XTN's in stock (second hand) and would be able to sell them if so. PM me and I will have a look tomorrow.... that's if you've not already sourced some..
If you need any further advice please PM me
Sometimes SMALLER isnt better.....
I hate all this new stuff thats SO SMALL AND HARD TO USE.... I prefer stuff to be bigger and not as complex...........
