View Full Version : New baby !
After having two children of my own I have never seen the process from the "goal end".
Last night I was a birth partner for my friend.
Her husband was there but got shouted at quite a lot and expect he's in for some trouble when she is fully recovered.
What an experience!!!
She had a little boy at 10pm without any medication etc. It was her first and she did really well. I felt so sorry for her as she was exhausted and had trouble pushing.
So today I am recovering with many bruises from being squeezed so much by her!
She had the baby in the new jessops. The midwives were fantasic, they directed her really well. One in particular was very old school and matronley. She was excellent! She made my friend work hard but stopped her from enduring labour for too long.
Congratulations to your friend!
Hope mum & baby are both doing well!
My mum was with me when I had my son and she said it was the most amazing thing to see your grandson being born. All of the emotion and none of the pain, although like you - she was bruised from being squeezed.
I cry even if I see a baby being born on telly so I'd probably be an emotional wreck as a birth partner!
I don't understand !!
Who is squeezing the spectators ... and why !?

Have you never seen the hands of someone standing by at a birth... It's like they've had them placed under the wheels of a 15 ton truck and rolled over repeatedly...
Might be something to do with the need to share the "experience" of birth... ie: PAIN! ;)

The spectator, or in my case - mum, was squeezed because she held my hand through three days of labour.
Everytime I got a contraction mum held my hand and helped me breath through the pain. With hindsight gas and air may have worked better, for me and mum! Although she said she would do it all again so it can't have been too bad!
many congratulations, ive seen all off mine born, at the last one i remember the afterbirth was placed in a kidney tray and somehow ended up on the floor,i picked it up replaced it in the tray and wiped up the mess on the floor, the midwife said most men collapse way before this stage. congratulations once again.....
PaulTansley 29-10-2004, 15:23 I imagine its her first.

Don't be daft.....Wayne or Tryrone has got to be better.
How about Chesney! I wonder how many kids actually have that name following the charactor rising to celebrity 'stardom'
I was thinking more along the lines of halloween names
Sad as this is, I actually know of a child who has been named Beyonce (ie. after her from Destiny's Child).
Just why is it that people insist on naming their poor children after pop stars and other daft names just so they think they are being different!?
