View Full Version : Recommend a good restaurant for Valentines?
I've only recently moved to Sheffield, and wondered if anyone can recommend a good restaurant (money no object, more or less!) in the city centre to go for a friendly, nice, relaxing meal on Valentines day?
Any quick responses appreciated - got to book these things early!!
http://www.sheffieldrestaurant.co.uk/ might be of some use.

Moon Maiden 12-02-2003, 19:06 I would say Mama Amalfi's in meadwhall.
It is upstairs in the Oasis and opens late so you won't have the shoppers. They have dark romatic corners with candlelight and I personally LOVE their food.

*Twinkle* 12-02-2003, 19:52 I agree, amalfi's is lovely! The food is divine, the service is excellent and thw whole layout is really romantic! Another good one is Maso's in the city centre. (close to the theatres) I went there a month ago :-) The overall presentation was excellent, the staff were really friendly and even the chef came out to see if we'd enjoyed our meal :-) Impressive!

Is that where the Mash House used to be?
It was my birthday last weekend and we went to Leeds for a meal because I could not find a decent steak house in Sheffield. In fact I could not find a steakhouse at all in Sheffield.
The meal and wine (Dona Paula Merlot) were excellent.

Recommended 05-02-2008, 21:02 Artisan at Crosspool is a lovely fish restaurant.
I recommend the Monk fish.
'Carl' (Head waiter/Matre D?) is a nice man
Game_Designa 05-02-2008, 21:11 Agraah's in town. It's a brilliant Indian restaurant. Very posh looking and modern. Great tasting beers, also. The food is amazing, haven't tasted food like it. It's one of the top 3 Indian restaurants in the UK. Brilliant staff, very polite and make the visit very worth while. Also, the prices are great. We got:
1x Chicken Tikka Masala
1x Chicken Korma
1x Egg Pilau Rice
1x Pilau Rice
1x Chips (Very nice, they're like home made chips, not fries)
1x Large Garlic Naan
6x Poppadoms
2x Malibu and Coke
1x Pint of Carlsberg
All came to £34.
I would be quick to book though, it's very popular. Although it has many people visiting it, your not all squashed together like most restaurants, the tables are spaced nicely.
