Yes, its next door to the Tai Sun supermarket. (which is also amazing). The restaurant is called 'East Ocean' and I'd recommend it.

I went a few weeks ago and was very impressed. It must be good as it was full of Chinese/ Japanese people, only problem was that most of them were smoking in between courses. Roll on a smokeless Sheffield!

It is a really good restaurant, I've eaten in there a couple of times and takeaway twice too. The food is of a much higher quality when you eat in we've found.

we went one saturday lunchtime just after it opened and it was very VERY nice, and not as dear as we were scared it would be, since we had loads of delicious japanese food and chinese beer. Definately recommened!

i checked out this place recently and it was far and away the worst meal i have had this year

as if the food wasn't bad enough there was:

no loo roll in the ladies
chipped plates
dirty spoons
disorganised service

i will never go back to this place and will certainly be spreading the word that it i somewhere to avoid

went last night and after a good start, it went downhill. The starter was very good - nice Thai soup and fishcakes, but the main course... oh dear...

A chinese meal with some dessicated coconut sprinkledon top to give it the authentic thai appearance - I think not...

While there are other places left to try, we won't be revisiting for a while!

Anyone tried the one on london road, not Baan Thai, the other one up near Wasabisabi?

Bukowskis! Its now Siam Inter Thai, which I think is a chain. I'm gonna check it out within the next week and will no doubt report back!

If you have bothered to try East Ocean again, it is by far the best restaurant in town. I am a regular at East Ocean and have friends who are Sheffield socialites, Martin Dawes of the food column in the Star who only frequent East Ocean because it is by far the best in terms of food quality and service. I do agree that at the beginning East Ocean did have difficulties in getting it right but this year they have got it spot on.

I've been twice. the first time (a lunchtime) I had a Tom Yum soup and some chinese dumplings and it was absolutely spot on. Really spicy tasty soup and delicious crispy dumplings. Yum!

However, the second time I went was for a friend's birthday in the evening. Having spent most of the way there telling everyone how great it was, I was incredibly disappointed this time round. Not only was it the smokiest place I think I've ever set foot in, the Thai curry I ordered really didn't resemble anything of the sort. It was a glutinous, tasteless dirty coloured mass with coconut sprinkled on top. Yuck!

...Having said that, the same night, one of my friends ordered spare ribs which looked amazing and another had that crispy chilli beef thing which was most tasty. Also, the waiters were very friendly and helpful.

Perhaps they're just better at some things than others...? And maybe that's what comes of trying to cover x thousands of square miles of culinary delights all in one small corner of Sheffield.

My verdict is - avoid the Thai curry and don't go if you can't stand smoky places.

I went for the first time last night and it was a very nice meal. Waiters are very friendly and helpful. I had the Japanese Tempura and sizzling steak and my companion was more adventurous with the chilli crab. Easily the best restaurant in Sheffield.

By the way, there is a non-smoking section and I did not have the feeling of any feeling up of clogged up lungs.

A message to you smokers: practice not to smoke in public places, its anti-social and undesirable for the rest of us.
