I think you've got your wires crossed, the only time the install is chargeable is if you SWAP your current box for a V+ box, if you take V+ as an extra box the install is free.

If you get V+ for free, you have to move your original box to another room and pay £5 a month for a minimum of 12 months, which equals £70.

However, a friend of mine rang up and said they didn't have a second TV and they got the installation for free without keeping the original box - although this was back in the days of Telewest.

i finally got thru to virgin again,and im now told i dont have to pay for instalation,im not sure if they know their arse from their elbow.

Absolutley nothing - just undo the connector on the back and swap the boxes over. The same coax is fed to them both - it's just split somewhere.

Academic now anyway, as you have got them to agree to set-up as you want for free, but thought I'd mention it for anyone else considering doing the same.

I have done similar to you - just can't get my head around the fact that a two hour job is free while a 2 minute box swap costs £75. I know I'm paying more to have two boxes, so long term they will get that money back, but even so.

i agree aspguru it dont make sense, but now it aint free instalation its now £25.00 for new/existing customers but look at the new instalation prices.

I had my existing box moved and a v+ put in.
Now i'm decorating i've removed the v+ to upstairs and stuck the other one on top of the wardrobe.

:confused::help:........hi everyone first post any help would be greatly appreciated...i am a virgin customer with a v box.... but have been offered a v+ box by someone who has left virgin......what i want to know is if i ring virgin will they allow me to use this box as the v box but with record and rewind extras....or will they want extra payment for the same channels i have now....?

when the other person ended their contract virgin send a signal to the box to zap the card and disable the box so its useless....
and it is always the property of virginmedia so i guess they would want it back...

Lucky you, mine is cack, always freezing up and needing a reboot and loads of recorded programmes pixellate really bad.
