Hi again,

As mentioned in previous posts, I'm doing the Health Science Access course at college. The tutor gave us a link to a website called s-cool. However I cannot join and post in the forums etc. etc. as the site is undergoing work or something, keeps telling me to check back at a later date, whenever that may be.
So anyway, does anyone know any similar sites where I can brush up on the subjects of the course (Cell Biology and Atoms and Numbers)? I only go one day per week but so far due to having an interview that couldn't be moved and lack of babysitter one week, I have missed two lessons and feel I have really fallen behind.
Also, does anyone remember going on a programme named 'Kudos' at school/ college? It was where you answered loads of questions about the sort of person you are/type of work you'd like or dislike doing, and they matched you with careers suitable for you, then had loads of info. and links for each career? Is there anything similar available on the net?

Getting a bit worried, even though we are just finishing the first term (started end Jan), we had one test that counts towards credits, and because I wasn't there for the week before I had no notes to revise from so had to guess a few multiple choice questions and leave the rest blank as I had no idea what some of the things were! I was quite bright at school and now I feel like the class dunce, got a test in the other subject next Tuesday and dreading that too.

:(

Hey there, try not to worry too much. From personal experience at uni, if you fall behind and worry immensely about it - that can actually become the biggest problem as it holds you back from tackling all the work you need to do. Try setting yourself small targets every day of stuff you need to catch up on and you'll soon get through it.

www.Prospects.ac.uk is a good careers website but I'm not sure about sites for brushing up on your knowledge. Ask your tutor what textbooks he can recommend which might help you, I'm sure they'll be happy to help!

You're not a class dunce you just need to get your confidence back :) Remember how well you did at school and keep going. You're prob worrying about your uni app but don't let that affect things.

This site is pretty good for giving careers advice. There is a load of questions you can fill in and then it gives you suitable careers. Hope this helps.

Hiya, aw thanks for the reply (and the other post too lol!), found a similar site to Kudos at learndirect, and will try the one you have given me too.

I am just worried now, I know all I can do is try and do my best next week, then make sure I go to every lesson from thereon and do well in the rest of the course. I can re-take to test in June or September/October if I sit in on another class for the day to make up for it but I am so annoyed with myself!!!!!

No worries, I know what it feels like! I had to catch up at one point too but you can get there! You really do get out of it all what you put in, so it might just be that you have to put in a lot of hard work at the mo, it'll all be worth it though! Take each week as it comes x

I'm doing science access also at college. Found the A and AS level books really helpful but havin same probs as you find suitable websites. Had an exam other week i was convinced i'd fail but didn't and have missed several lessons due to family/home stuff but i've found my tutors really helpful, have you tried talking to them?

There is a careers library on Division St. I can't remember whether it's called Connexion or not. I just recall going I there years ago for directories and details of jobs and what academic qualification are required. You may want to try that first.
