Did anyone catch Leslie Grantham at Costco on Thursday?... Also, Bet Lynch from Corrie will be doing some book signing at WHSmiths in Meadowhall next week - I'll find out the date then post it.
Theres a thread somewhere about Dirk Benedict ( face ) from The A Team, who was in Sheffield last night.
Any more advance info or sightings - post em' here!

Biscuit head 10-03-2007, 09:40 This celebrity culture is a sad indictment on the decline of our society.
The same thing happened during the fall of the Roman Empire apparently.
laura_beth 10-03-2007, 12:24 I also always see the Arctics around and about in bars and clubs at the weekend. And milburn too. Bless them, they look so young and cute! xx

Choppersquad 20-03-2007, 22:18 I spent 10 years working in Goldsmiths Jewellers in M'Hall.
We used to get loads of (ahem) celebrities in, whenever they were in town for concerts, panto etc.
Hope you're ready for these "A" listers, whom I dealt with:
Duncan Norvelle (he did actually say "chase me"!!)
Cannon & Ball
Stefan Dennis
Bobby Knutt
Paul Shane (who, I digress, lived across the road from my comp school and at the height of his fame would shout f**k off whenever we shouted Hi de Hi!)
Ronan Keating
That Scottish vet with the white blow dried hair from a YTV animal program (name anyone?)
Blazin Squad
Lisa Riley
Colin welland
I'm sure there were more, its late and most of them hardly stuck in my mind (Ronan was a decent fella)
Freebird 21-03-2007, 05:52 Lucky you...the guy is such an amazing vocalist

boboskins 21-03-2007, 09:12 Eddie Izzard a few years back stood talking to someone outside what used to be that Post Office at the bottom of West Street/Top of High Street (where the City Hall tram stop is). He'd been shopping at Wallis' :D
Also saw Jay Kay of Jamiroquai trying to drive to the back of the City Hall via a small side lane off Carver St next to the car park but finding his way blocked by bollards :)
Oh and numerous Sheffield celebs like Phil Oakey in Cole Brothers, Ian Reddington (Tricky Dicky from EastEnders/Vernon in Corrie) at a SWFC match in Newcastle, Prince Naz walking down Eccy Road
Jarvis Cocker is fairly regular in our shop as is Prince Nasim and his wife.
I see a few sheff united players in my local bookies and I saw chris morgan at the petrol station the other day. If you can call the celebs that is.
Elvis Costello on Fargate, Richard Hawley at a cash machine on Hunter's Bar, and least surprisingly of all, Neil Warnock on Eccy road.
Tintsexpert 21-03-2007, 13:06 I saw the guy who plays Jack Osbourne in Hollyoaks on the Moor once.
He lives in Grenoside!
I served Richard Hawley at our bar today, and a very nice guy he was too!
Hawley is a complete idiot, i though he'd be a mild mannered sort of chap given the nature of his music, but he's just an out and out idiot!
I see the guy who plays Jack from Hollyoaks all the time at sheffield Station.
noisyandy 21-03-2007, 13:35 Sean Bean on the Kop at Bramall Lane many moons ago. Dave Bassett at the train station in the 90s. Howard Wilkinson in St Williams Catholic Church (when I used to be a God-botherer). Richard Hawley in Yellow Arch Studios. Also Corey Clarke, singer from American rock band Warrior Soul in Yellow Arch. Tony Hadley in Drop at the City Hall looking very out of place!

sierraman 21-03-2007, 14:18 I once had a girlfriend who lived next door to Bobby Knutt at Wharncliffe Side.
I worked as a chamber maid at the Grosvenor in 1979/80 when I was still at school - met The Skids, Elkie Brooks, Bob Monkhouse, and a few others I can't remember now - I flogged the autographs on evil-bay. I remember Elkie Brooks was pregnant at the time - seem to think she'd been given permission to bring her dogs along and they were staying in the room. She was lovely - so tiny!
I'm no royalist, but in the early 90s, Princess Anne came to open the tennis club at Norton and as I was working at Norton college at the time, I went along with the rest of the office gang and ended up standing very close to her or as close as her gang of minders would let us get - again, I remember thinking how small she looked- and that she had dandruff (navy blue suit).
When our garden was on Channel 4 in 1994 we met all the presenters of Garden Club (Roy Lancaster, Matthew Biggs and Rebecca Powys) and then I got the chance to meet my gardening hero Geoff Hamilton when he came to Heeley City Farm.
and we also had our garden photographed by the lovely late Pete Bowler, a keen wildlife photographer who wrote for local and national press.
Seen Phil Oakey around- he lives up theroad from here and he was going out with a girl I worked with/managed for a while a few years back (Sally Wren, in case he's reading this- she was lovely). He was at THe Plug's opening night event to see The Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain and wasstood next to me for a good hour- not that I made conversation or anything like that- I could barely hear myself think.
Recently met and had a nice chat with Graham Fellows (aka Jilted John, aka John Shuttleworth) at a masterclass event at Hallam Uni
oh and when we went to see Derek Acorah at the city hall this year, we were late arriv8ng and I was just about to open the door to go into the main hall when Derek appeared on the other side to speak to a member of the audience near there, so I spent 20 mins standing on the other side of the door barely inches away from him waiting thil he'd moved on...so much for psychics -you'd have thought he'd have known I was there. wouldnt you?
My Fiancee works in Clarks in Orchard Square and sold 2 pairs of shoes to Michael Ball today.

I thought that the other week when I saw him performing on tv - it's incredible, he really hasn't aged at all!! How does he manage it with being a smoker? I guess that maybe helps keep the weight off which is the real killer ageing thing. But as you say - what a legend!

I used to be the lead singer in the Doors but for reasons unexplained faked my own death in Paris in '71. I assumed a new identity as a six year old in Worksop.
I have continued to live a lie in all the years since, maintaining my persona as an anonymous drunken bufoon. This I find much more amenable than living as a famous drunken bufoon.
Please help me keep my secret.
Does this count as meeting a celebrity?
Oops, double posted this one.
Sorry, please ignore.

EdnaKrabappe 11-11-2007, 07:59 Had my dinner sat at the next table to Ross Kemp last night and two of his friends. Left them alone for the meal but as they were leaving, he looked over and smiled and said hello so I asked him what he was doing in Sheffield (Here for the documentary festival) He then got hold of one of our party and gave her a right hug and then my mate's mum got hold of him and wouldn't let go... :hihi: His mate was saying to me, I can't believe you've not all got your cameras out!
He was very pleasant and a lot less stocky than he looks on the telly.
ara01jbb 11-11-2007, 08:41 Louis Theroux was also in town last night for his new documentary's premiere and masterclass. Many other movie big wigs for Docfest, but not many you might recognise without a who's who of film making... Peter Hook of Joy Division was also around on opening night for the premiere of a documentary about the band. For a few brief moments I was holding his delegate badge which read (rather succinctly)
Peter Hook
Musician
Joy Division :hihi:

fabulous_girl 11-11-2007, 19:50 also i share a surname with a big sheffield star. everywhere i go i have always been asked, "any relation to<<name>>?"
yet since i have been in his hometown nobody has batted an eyelid at my name. even when they ask how to spell it and i spell it out, adding, "as in<<name>>" they look totally blank.
GoGo_dancer 12-11-2007, 13:01 I've just seen Serj Tankian (lead singer of System of a Down) in Starbucks (think they're supporting Foo Fighters tonight)
I recognised his nose first (think concorde) and then thought 'hang on, I've seen him on MTV!!'
My hubby is annoyed I didn't get his autograph, but I couldn't remember the name of the group he was in, so I would have looked a bit daft going "excuse me, are you in a world famous rock band?" :loopy:
Ive just seen David Blunkett driving up Ecclesall road south in his Octavia.
bubbly_bird8 12-11-2007, 13:16 i saw jack from hollyoaks a couple of weeks ago on fargate in town.

Always around Sheffield, don't know if he lives here. Catches my train quite often.
I've just seen Serj Tankian (lead singer of System of a Down) in Starbucks (think they're supporting Foo Fighters tonight)
System Of A Down was his band. And now I'm jealous. Off to see him and the foos tonight tho.

StarSparkle 12-11-2007, 13:41 I had a chat to Ross Kemp yesterday at the bar in the showroom.
I wonder if 'Meet Sheffield Forummers' was on Mr Kemp's To-Do List? :D

That's nothing; Pele was in Sheff for the same event last week and kipped on my sofa as he was too tight to pay for a hotel.

O now you say hotels Basil that reminds me I saw the Ipswich Town football team all coming off their bus going into St.Pauls Hotel last week. Though they aren't exactly Pele are they.
Yog Sothoth 12-11-2007, 13:57 Can he manage words of more than one sylibal?
He managed words of several "sylibals". An eloquent and good humoured bloke. And you, I imagine, will be astounded to learn that he doesn't really speak like Grant Mitchell! Fancy that eh? :loopy:
slimsid2000 12-11-2007, 13:58 I once saw Tony Capstick on a bus. No doubt after he had lost his licence for the umpteenth time.

That was a few years back mind.
Yog Sothoth 13-11-2007, 15:37 I once sat next to Tony Benn. That was in Leeds though. Funnily enough, I'd seen Linda Lewis a few years earlier at almost the same spot. Coincidence?
Ross Kemp was in the champagne bar in St Pauls on Saturday night - being accosted by a lovely bunch of girlies on a hen night!
