I just wondered if anyone knew whether if you bank with Bank of scotland (not royal bank of scotland) if you can deposit cheques into Halifax, I know they are part of the same group.
Got a cheque to deposit, & there isnt a bank of scotland in Rotherham, but is a Halifax & I really cant be arsed to go all way into Sheefield just to deposit a cheque. Yes I know I am lazy, lol

Not sure about the Halifax, but think you can pay them in at the Post Office. No doubt there's a charge for this but will save you a trip.
I know a Halifax account you can pay them into MINE.
If your roll number begin with a D/ followed by numbers and you go into a halifax branch not an agency you should be ok
I don't know the answer to your question (but I guess Bank of Scotland will, you could call them). However, if you can't, you can post the cheque to the bank along with a paying in slip or note of your account number and they'll credit it.
Jaynee, since Bank of Scotland is, and always has been a bank, they won't have roll numbers. Only Building Societies, or former building societies use these.
Since Halifax and BOS became HBOS all new bank accounts have a roll number beginning with D/, before that time BOS accounts would have had just an account number and sort code
Thanks Jayee, mine has an account number & a rollnumber so ill give it a try paying it in at Halifax. Many thanks
