It's just been revealed that staff who work at a Sheffield Housing Association [ ? ] are taking about 3 weeks a year off sick. In the same article it says that the national average for nurses is about 2 weeks a year. [ These figures may be slightly inaccurate but one gets the general idea ].

I bet that none of the above can smoke or drink at work. Of course they may smoke like chimneys and drink like sailors on leave in their free time ? We simply don't know.

All I can report is that I've been smoking and drinking regularly for about 50 years and since September have had one day off sick. Since 1984, I have been off sick about 2 or 3 weeks in total. This is despite working abroad, eating " unhygenic " food, living in the hottest country in the world and living in some very odd conditions. Am I just lucky ? Or is it that people who might be termed ' health freaks ' are so moddy-coddled that they catch everything that's going ........or THINK they've got everything that's going..........or are just plain idle ?

I haven't had a day off sick in the last three years. I only seem to get ill at weekends :( !
I'll still have to have a 'sickness interview' though
