View Full Version : Questions about West One
just wondered if anybody could tell me what it's like living there - am thinking of moving there when my current contract runs out (feb)
first question is, is it quiet on week nights? - i.e after 11pm
what is the gym like there? it's free to residents isn't it?
if you don't have a parking space what's it like for parking on the streets? - easy to find free spaces closeby?
someone must live or know somone who lives there!?
I am sure I seen 1 or 2 members of this forum say they live there. I suggest that you run a search on West One and see what it comes up with (apart from this thread of course).
have heard that too many up for rent no "professionals" wanted them so they have bought in students now, apparently mess in corridors, noisy etc
tinajones 26-10-2004, 22:01 A poor mans version of 'city centre living'. I've heard many are empty and left unfinished as they don't have enough buyers - is that true?
Nope, it's absolutely untrue.

i'm after quailty city centre living - in fact i first became interested in my career (town planner) as a result of my fascination with regeneration and city centre living

Are you going to explain how you know this? I don't think the post carries much weight without an explanation!

I own a flat in West One that I rent out . I have 2 professionals in there at the moment and they love it. I had quite a few people contacting me about the flat - mainly professionals. I understand that the noise is not a problem although if you overlook Revolution then maybe it is more of a concern.
The gym is not free to residents - they would make a colossal loss on that basis.
I wouldn't think it was that easy to park around there without an allocated space. There are notices regularly pinned to the notice boards about spaces available to rent.
Clairee is wrong about there not being many professionals renting there. Also, quite a lot of the flats are owner/occupiers - mainly professionals. Obviously there are some students but some provision is made for these at the far end of the block where they can live in large groups. The rents are far too high for most students anyway. Clairee is also wrong about the messy corridors. I have seen no litter/mess whatsoever - the communal areas are well kept.
tinajones remark about the flats being left unfinished and empty is preposterous! - where do people get these rumours from?
We tried to buy another flat a few months ago but were pipped at the post. Obviously some flats are more popular than others and I don't think they are selling as quickly as before but that applies to most properties now.

Maybe not but you could pm the members that have said they live there and ask them their opinions directly.

It's my job to know these things :)
Rather than me having to explain something that you might not believe anyway, try making a couple of phone calls to rent an apartment in West One. You will have to be quick!

yes i guess i could but think it's worth trying in here first as there may be other people wanting to know the same or similar things about West One :)
said I had only heard that was the case didn't start the rumour or anything!
probably best to go and arrange a few appointments on different days and times and to see for yourself.
Best of luck finding somewhere good isn't always easy
superted666 29-10-2004, 12:29 I Live in west one and gotta say it sounds like a different place than you guys are talking about.
Really clean dead nice. I bought a place there and there arnt that many free to be honest as it took a while for me to get a place and anyplace i bid on was outbid because of the demand!
Quiet and nice id suggest you try staying there before you comment !
Just a thought tho
I currently live in West. One and I have have had no problems at all really. I used to rent a 1 bed apartment until my circumstances changed and I've moved into a uCube. I've lived in the development for about 4 months and the noise did take a little getting used too as I lived on the front above the Gym. There are some students living here who have a little less respect for the property but other than that its a good place to live. Especially if you like going out a lot!
