We have almost completed putting play bark down instead of the back lawn so we can put a climbing frame up for the little ones.

We have a cat. He thinks its a loo. So do one or two other cats. We had used bark chippings on our borders in the other house and not really had a problem with the cats.

I dont want to get something that repels or frightens all cats because ours is 13, a bit doddery, and only goes out the back once or twice a day, but I want to stop them doing their business there.

Has anyone found anything that actually works?

I have but this is a family forum & doesn't advocate use of firearms :hihi:

I have heard that cats don't like citrus. Would orange oil deter them? It shouldn't hurt the kiddies either:)

Ive thought about this one too. I might get some orange oil and try it, I might have got some citronella somewhere too that I could try.

Otherwise I thought about the hard surface cleaner spray I use with orange oil. I was gonna spray that all over it!

Doesn't the peel work just as well? you could mix some in with the bark and it may last longer
