View Full Version : Do married men ever leave??
shoo gal 18-03-2007, 16:48 All i seem to hear about at the moment is about is married men having affairs...obviously not all of them :hihi:
Why do people get married?
One of my best mates is in a bit of a mess about the whole thing, so I have a question...will a married man ever leave??
I dunno what to say to her anymore so give me advice
x
Don't you watch Eastenders?
shoo gal 18-03-2007, 16:52 Don't you watch Eastenders?
haha yeah, but i didn't think Eastenders was real  :suspect:
What do you mean, do married men ever leave?
Do you mean leave their wives - course they do!
I hope that when I get married it's for good, and if my husband did ever think about having an affair then he'd have the decency to tell me before doing anything, I'd be devastated but at least it would have a chance of being an amicable break up.

Do you mean leave their wives - course they do!
I hope that when I get married it's for good, and if my husband did ever think about having an affair then he'd have the decency to tell me before making a mockery out of me and the marriage...
When do they leave then...
I'm never getting married, I don't see the point!

Chris_Sleeps 18-03-2007, 16:56 When do they leave then...
Normally between 10 and 10.30.

um, and that is why i aint ever getting married :hihi:
Chris_Sleeps 18-03-2007, 16:58 You don't have to be married to be cheated on, it happens in all walks of life for all sorts of reasons. Marriage is one of the best things a woman can do while the co-habitation laws are still deeply flawed.

I kinda disagree really, if i was to get married (which i wont, due to the fact there are no men left in Sheffield :hihi: ) it wouldnt be for the financial agreement if it all went wrong. That's not very romantic!

Boil your head in a bowl of noodles young man (got to be a man)
and hope you're not the one left to pick up the pieces.

Well you get The Decent But Confused Man - who realises that he wants to be with other women and doesn't love his wife anymore - so leaves her before anybody gets hurt.
You get The Man Who Doesn't Know What He Wants, who kisses/ sleeps with another woman once or twice just to see whether he'd rather be with them or other women.
And you get The B*astard who leads another woman on by thinking she's the only woman in the world for him until she finds out he's been seeing another woman/ women.
Or you get The Complete B*astard who leads double wives, and sees them both at the same time, may even have kids with them!
P.s don't let it put you off marriage though, if you're with one of the above - he'd still do it if you weren't married and you'd still get heartbroken! Hope you find a nice one though!
evildrneil 18-03-2007, 17:33 which i wont, due to the fact there are no men left in Sheffield
I think you need to brush up on your biology!
evildrneil 18-03-2007, 17:34 One of my best mates is in a bit of a mess about the whole thing, so I have a question...will a married man ever leave??
Is she seeing a married man who she wants to leave his wife or is her husband messing about and she wants him to leave?

Sorry but that’s so not true. Twice I’ve been married and my ex husband’s have walked away with half of what I had before we met, even though they brought nothing into the relationship.
cressida 18-03-2007, 17:49 It could be more convenient for the mistress, if the married man stays put,
if he leaves for you - it creates another vacancy. Also life becomes humdrum (you need separate bathrooms) romance gets put on the back burner, then there's taking each other for granted. A man makes more effort when he's not under your feet, you appreciate each other more, have more to talk about. Best of all the FRISSON of being single, and knowing you CAN
I find it impossible to understand why anyone would stay with a partner who they know was cheating on them, and I can’t understand why anyone would see someone they new was in a relationship with someone else.
:suspect:
pattricia 18-03-2007, 17:55 If someone cheated on me, I would have to get my own back.
An eye for an eye.
shoo gal 18-03-2007, 17:56 Is she seeing a married man who she wants to leave his wife or is her husband messing about and she wants him to leave?
She's seeing a married man.

I guess things just happen and then feelings get involved. I dont want her to get hurt tho
evildrneil 18-03-2007, 18:00 She's seeing a married man.
Firstly I don't think she should be seeing a married man (any more than a man should 'see' a married woman) and if/when she gets hurt then tough - she knew the state of play. Secondly married men typically do not leave when they have a steady marriage and a steady 'bit on the side' - they are getting what they want on both fronts so why should they? Best advice for your friend is stop seeing married men and find a nice single one!

This reminds me of a conversation 5 of us had at the last sf meet I went to.
We were discussing the advantages of having a one to one long term relationship, without ever living together.
3 out of 5 thought it was a great idea and couldn’t see any disadvantages (as long as you don’t want children) and the only advantage the other 2 could think of was financial

Im sure there are lots of lovely single men in Sheffield.

Yes but it means that all single blokes are at home being nerdy on their own but content, single girls are out down town with other single women, loved up people have their own private clubs somewhere, and then the married bored people are allowed out once a month to perve on the single women and lead them into temptation! It's not right!!!

Sorry to sound so blunt but if she gets hurt then so be it, she’s not giving much consideration to the wife getting hurt is she?
And if he did leave his wife for your friend, once the novelty has worn off could she ever trust him?

blueeyes 18-03-2007, 18:34 in my experience most men would stray. there are exceptions but the majority of men would have their cake and eat it if they thought they could get away with it. perhaps it is the male chemistry that means many of them can't keep it in their trousers. that said it isn't just the men at fault, for every cheating man there is an equally devious woman.
fox20thc 18-03-2007, 18:36 Sorry, but I think there are lots of women who are just as bad, given the opportunity, no ties and no chance of being caught they are the same...
of course not me...:D Loyal to the end

Or perhaps the man is fed up with the relationship or not being satisfied and goes elsewhere?

You've said it now... it's there for all to read! :hihi:
Jabberwocky 18-03-2007, 18:38 People usually stray out of curiosity. If you get married before sowing your wild oats then theres a very good chance that curiosity will get the better of you sooner or later.
Its all well and good having a go at people who are promiscuous when theyre young, but at least theres a less chance of them buggering off once they finally make that commitment.
I was a dirty little sod in my late teens and 20s but my curiosity is salved so Ill never sod off with anyone else, my other half on the other hand, had a relatively sheltered life and is 15 years younger than me, so I have to work that little bit harder to keep her interested.
Thank god Im gorgeous, thats all I can say!

Could be red jellies (my favourite), do like tomato’s, red apples and radishes (not all on the same plate) but tonight I’m hunting for the red wine.
Or perhaps the man is fed up with the relationship or not being satisfied and goes elsewhere?
But if that’s the case then why isn’t he man enough to leave before he tries to find a replacement?
Sounds like he’s a waste of space to me.

Men should be responsible for there own actions! If your gonna put men want their cake and eat it, theres usually some justification behind it. :)

To get back on topic, married men rarely leave until they've completely made all sorts of other arrangements to get straight into something else, whereas in my experience, women do just because they are unhappy. Men would rather stay unhappily with someone until someone better comes along. I'm sure there are many of you on here that would prove that theory wrong.
My long term ex didn't leave me until he had made sure his bint was ready for him to move in and two men I was involved with told me they'd left their wives/partners years before, when in reality they'd not left at all, only mentally! The second one I really couldn't believe as I'd told him about the first one lying and he swore he was completely single apart from contact because of the kids. :( Told me some right porkies to avoid me going back to his place.
I have a lot of respect for an ex boyfriend as he left his long term partner and daughter to move into a crap situation which he's still not out of now. It wasn't easy as he loves his daughter implicitly and he was moving onto a sofa but it was better than the arguments him and ex were having. She gave him ample opportunity to go back and I think she gave him lots of encouragement to get back together when we were a couple. The fact he didn't give in and go back (even though he missed his daughter terribly) gave me massive respect towards him.
pattricia 18-03-2007, 18:52 Yr welcome Lindos, I get a bit fed up of the man bashing when us ladies can be just as horrid and evil.

That's absolute rubbish, if things are OK between two people then there's nothing to 'stray' for. Everyone has difficult bit's in a longterm relationship but working through them tends to make things stronger. Having a bit on the side or whatever you want to call it usually makes things worse.

Not a fact at all.
Yeah, I did it and got away with it in my marriage but then my other half wasn't that bothered. Then we got divorced - my choice and no regrets.
Even if I could have got away with it with my recent ex, no way on this earth would I have done it.
whitewitch 21-03-2007, 11:31 couldnt possibly answer through personal experience as i leave other peoples men well alone, but knowing someone what did see a married man, he lied all the way through, he wanted his cake and ate it
I despise people who have this attitude towards a relationship.
So do I Kirsty, as it appears that what’s actually being said is that as long as you don’t get caught it’s fine to totally disregard the feelings of others by being a lying, selfish, cheat.
Makes you wonder if they lie and cheat in all the other areas of their lives in the hope that they won’t get found out.
Till Man 21-03-2007, 15:43 Why do people get married?
From my own (cynical) experience, I really don't have a clue!
One of my best mates is in a bit of a mess about the whole thing, so I have a question...will a married man ever leave??
Yes they will. In fact I left the first Mrs Till - about 10 minutes after she told me she had been sh*gging her boss for the previous 12 months!!
Now why do so many threads assume that all men are b*st*rds and all women are perfect?! It just isn't the case!!
In my opinion, if you are so unhappy with your relationship that you are even contemplating straying then it is time to go - before getting anyone else involved!!
