Help please folks.

My PC freezes up after about 20-30 minutes of use every now and then, and has to be switched off whilst a programme is still running. It then has to be left for about 30 minutes before it will start up again.

There is a 'louder than normal' buzzing sound on start-up, which seems to quieten after about five minutes.

During its working time, it seems to be running 100% okay, and reasonably fast. The freeze-up comes about out of the blue - so to speak.

Anyone got any suggestions what's happening, please?

Just thought I ought to add that there are no viruses, adware, or other junk to be found in the system, and no new programmes have been installed recently.

Take the side off and check the fans are clean and running correctly.

Have done that neeeeeeeeeek. It has been cleaned and the fans are running okay. Thought at first that it might be overheating, but wouldn't it just cut out and close down?

no.

see once it locks up it's at it's hotest, then once locked up nothing running it starts to cool down. When it cools it will spring back to life - and so on - and so on.

Sounds like heat, if you have checked for dust, could be your PSU thats over heating, and not the CPU or anything...
