Just bought a car and got to sort out the DVLA papers and insurance, and new to all this so would appreciate advice.

Can I take the new registered keeper document into Sheffield DVLA office or do I have to send it to Swansea DVLA?...and does using Sheffield office speed things up?

I want to get it insured tomorrow ( just waiting on quotes from confused.com) but do I say that I am the registered keeper now i.e. before get papers back from DVLA?

thanks in adance !

As far as I know, once you have posted the V5 you can insure. They only ask if it's your car (where it will be kept) and to name the drive(s). You can insure a car even if it's not yours.

once you have puchased the vehicle, you are the legal owner

registering is just a legal procedure I am sure

try some instant telephone brokers, they have various smaller companies on their records and can insure you almost instantly with competetive deals

What does the Sheffield DVLA actually do that's different from Swansea? What services do they offer Joe Public?
