Plain Talker 17-03-2007, 21:36 it should not affect sexual function; the only difference either partner should notice is a slight lessening of the amount of ejaculate. pattricia 17-03-2007, 21:40 The Urologist will answer all you questions regarding the Prostrate Gland. jen13kd 17-03-2007, 21:44 hopefully this should answer your questions http://www.ehealthmd.com/library/prostateremoval/PR_whatis.html JoeP 17-03-2007, 21:49 There can be some impact. http://www.prostatehealth.org.au/v3/html/sheet_6.htm A lot depends upon the type of operation and the techniques used. As Pattricia sys, teh uologist involve will be the person to ask. Whether the operation can be avoided or not is a matter for the patient and doctor, really, although with older men and slow cancers, sometimes a surgeon may decide to do something called 'watchful waiting'. http://www.besttreatments.co.uk/btuk/conditions/4543.html Seriously - go through this with the urologist involved. I once heard a medic say that quite a few men die WITH prostate cancer, rather than OF it. pattricia 17-03-2007, 21:55 There have been massive changes regarding the treatment of the prostrate gland. Too numerous to describe on here, but they involve laser treatment .Just leave it up to the Urologist. cressida 17-03-2007, 21:59 There have been massive changes regarding the treatment of the prostrate gland. No I am not asking for myself or for a man I know, I wanted to know that if I decided to go out with a man who had the problem what the consequences were if this became relevant pattricia 17-03-2007, 22:01 No I am not asking for myself or for a man I know, I wanted to know that if I decided to go out with a man who had the problem what the consequences were if this became relevant It doesnt really happen until a man is older, cressida. :) cressida 17-03-2007, 22:05 It doesnt really happen until a man is older, cressida. :) thank you Pattricia - oh wise one, I do have a thing for the mature man JoeP 17-03-2007, 22:10 No I am not asking for myself or for a man I know, I wanted to know that if I decided to go out with a man who had the problem what the consequences were if this became relevant Like Pattricia says, unless it's a rampaging nightmare of a Prostate problem it's not something that pops up as an issue until a man is older. I'm in my mid 40s and as far as I know it's still quite happy. :) To be blunt, most men are more likely to get sexual problems due to narrowing of the blood vessels of the penis due to general cardio-vascular health problems. I think this is the most common cause of erectile dysfunction in men beyond the 30s. Much of this is a lifestyle thing - smoking, poor diet, etc. Also diabetes can have an effect with obese men. Generally, I think it's more likely that you'll find these issues a problem with your prospective partners than Prostate problems. cressida 17-03-2007, 22:13 Like Pattricia says, unless it's a rampaging nightmare of a Prostate problem it's not something that pops up as an issue until a man is older. After talking to a few men who have had this procedure i'm not too worried, but none of them were on warfarin as i am. The warfarin is a long term thing owing to a heart condition. I wondered if anyone on the forum new of anyone who has been in a similar situation. whitehorses 28-11-2010, 21:42 Oh Cressy, it's time you looked for a Toy Boy, mind you, they get nappy rash !! pattricia 28-11-2010, 21:45 I'm due to have a prostate biopsy soon.
