View Full Version : Kennel Name, please help!
Hi guys,
I'm applying for a Kennel Club affix which will cost me £70 :| :| so I want to get it right first time!
I can only think of a couple, and Dalmara (a combination of dalmatian and Takara) sounds too much like the already existing Dalmark.
I thought about Tachetés Dalmatians (means spotted in French and pronounced like tashtay) but not really sure...
So... I'm not posting a poll - I'm asking you what you can come up with!
Bearing mind - my first dally was called Takara, my second Eddy
My name is Charlotte/Lottie
The breed is dalmatians
I live in Crookesmoor, Sheffield (for now)
Any ideas?
MARY POPPINS 17-03-2007, 18:31 I think Charlokara Dalmations, when I chose My name
I used bits of all our names, then the next worse job is
choosing puppys kennel names, hope you manage to think of one,
Thanks!
I haven't a clue how I'm going to work out the pups names! There were 12 in Takara's litter!!
Charlokara is quite nice actually... thanks, will add it to my (very short) list of possibilities!
baileys_mum 17-03-2007, 19:48 MANDALA OAK part anagram of lotti dalmation takara
I like Crookesmoor Tachetes or Ponderosa Tachetes.
shihtzumad 17-03-2007, 20:08 Charlokara Dalmations, i like the sound of of this what marry poppins picked.
thanks guys, I think it's got to be just one word though - otherwise the above suggestions would've been great!
baileys_mum 17-03-2007, 21:13 Use an anagram program, its great and loads to choose from
MARY POPPINS 17-03-2007, 21:29 thanks guys, I think it's got to be just one word though - otherwise the above suggestions would've been great!
I'm sure it is one word and I think you can only have so many letters,
have a check on the form from the kennel club.
BlackVelvet 17-03-2007, 21:38 how about: NOITAMLAD, Dalmation spelled backwards.
We have a husky whos mums affix is Nairibes: Siberian spelled backwards.
TattyBear 17-03-2007, 22:23 Charmation
(part your name-part the breed name)
shihtzumad 17-03-2007, 22:37 Charmation
(part your name-part the breed name)
Thats a good one. When are you going to start breeding?
thanks guys... all comments appreciated.
Have to say though - it would be Naitamlad and Charmatian
There is no 'o' in dalmatian ;)
Shihtzumad was that aimed at me or Tatty??
TattyBear 17-03-2007, 23:03 My other half likes charmation aswel. Something 'sweet' about it he said! He nevers likes anything :hihi:
How would you pronounce it ?
Char? or shar?
shihtzumad 17-03-2007, 23:03 U lotti, tatty has had her bitch spayed
only one of 'em ;)
I'm looking at breeding her in the next year or so (wouldn't breed her for the first time after 4 years of age) but need a waiting list and a better financial situation (which is set to be happening, hopefully!) so, her next season being October/November time, it'll probably be the one after that, or maybe the one after that.
I don't want to leave it too long as I want to have her spayed once she's had one (or maximum two) litter(s). I already have some interest in pups but need a bigger list before I breed from her!
well Charmatian sounds better than Sharmatian, but dunno! I'm still quite liking Charolokara if it's not too many letters!
I love Charmation, I think it sounds perfect :)
MARY POPPINS 18-03-2007, 18:40 Had a look on my papers and you can have fifteen letters, but only one word,
I like Charmatian as well, but remember it should be something that sounds ok with the breed,Charmatian Dalmatians.
I love Charmation, I think it sounds perfect :)
I agree- great prefix xK
I'm sorry Lotti, I'm tired and doing a sweep before bed, so I'll have a think and get back to you, but for now....
Charlokara - I'm picturing specialising in choccy labs
Charmatian - I like, but I'm wary of it being a bit 'cutesy' and attracting the wrong kind of 'purchaser' for your pups :(
Crookesmoor Tachetes - before I opened your thread I was wondering what the french was for 'spotty' or 'spots'
You can't have place names though - unless you can sneak under the KC radar with it :suspect:
Ponderosa Tachetes - Ponderosa may be ambiguous enough to get away with, but may have been done before - try googling?
What's dalmatian for 'spot'? (though that's probably been done)
spot
italian - macchia
spanish - lugar
german - fleck
dutch - De plek
norwegian - flekk

purdyamos 19-03-2007, 00:05 Others are being fairly creative in the affix department, but if you want Dalmatia-related ideas for pup titles, you know where to come, I know loads of words and names etc pertinent to the area (are place names barred for pup titles too?). ;)
BTW Dalmatian isn't the language, Croatian is, and 'spotty' is 'mrljav'.
I wasn't sure if I should have been asking about croation Purdy. I thought I'd read a post of yours before about it ;) I had a croatian uncle by marriage so it found a place to lodge in the grey matter
