Hi
When i go to a restaurant website & click on the menu, it says download in pdf format & open.
So i download it, & then the Microsoft office starts & it says!
How do i want to see this:- Windows default, MS-DOS, other encoding.
Each has a box & when i click on the 'other encoding it comes up with all the different types like cyrillic, greek hebrew etc!!

When i just use Windows default, it opens in office with a load of jargon, no menu, just a load of symbols resembling Russian !!
Anyone can help!!

If it's PDF format then you want a copy of acrobat to view it (www.adobe.com I think!) It sounds like windows is trying to open it as a text file which will do you no good!

I'll try that, it does say pdf! I haven't Adobe acrobat, only adobe acrobat flash player x.

One more thing!

I am trying to clean some unnecessary stuff from pc & in 'Add/Remove programmes'
I see 'Microsoft office front page 2003' that takes up 371.00MB & says i rarely use it.
I also see Microsoft office Pro Edition 2003 that i do use for college that takes up 637.00MB. Tht i do use a lot for college!

Do i need the 'front page' thing!, can i delete that! or wil it mess with my Office pro edition?

If you already have Acrobat Reader installed then you need to associate PDF files with it, or download the file, right click it and use 'Open With'.

Or just go into the reader and open it from there.

Edit: Ignore above, you need to download Acrobat Reader (http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html) since you aint got it.

Why would you want to delete any part of Office Pro? IIRC, it's part of Office setup, so it may be as well to leave it as it is.....it's not doing any harm, is it?

Don't bother with acrobat, get the Foxit PDF reader.

no it aint doing any harm, i just wanted to know what the frontpage thing was & as this pc has small hard drive, i wondered if i needed it! & that it takes up the 2nd biggest programme space on this pc.
So it's part of setup ?

Front Page is an HTML editing program that comes as part of the Office package. If you don't use it, you're safe to remove it.

Erm!! All i use office for is for writing & emailing essays to my tutor!
So i guess is ok to delete still??

I was going to delete it via 'add/remove' programmmes in internet options! Is this ok?

Just that it seems to take up more space on my pc than any other programme other than the office 2003 programme & as my HD is small, i want to free up unnecessary space!
