Its the new graduate in the Transport section of the Councils latest plot to keep traffic off Herries Road. No reason for it. Just anything to stop traffic flow and encourage drivers onto buses.

(It worked OK when I went through at about 11 am this morning btw!)

I actually went through these at around 2:40pm and they were fine then. Traffic was flowing at that time. Perhaps they ajust for peak periods?

Out on a driving lesson at 3:30 other day (friday) and they were playing up then, 30 minutes to get from park to herries road junction

I was coming out of the little side road leading to Kwik Fit and Mr Clutch and my light went green, so of I go. Unbeknownst to me, the lights coming out of parkside road are green as well! Cue me driving out, with the entire build up of traffic down the side of the Wednesday ground coming straight at me with a look of blood lust in their eyes!*

always seem to go faulty at 15.30 hrs monday to friday.
if you come the other way down herries road, you can never beat the first set of lights after the ones at the juntion with penistone road/herries road.
blood lust in their eyes :o had they been drinking?

I've also noticed that the lights outside Owlerton Stadium turning onto Bradfield Road seem to be down a lot of late. That is fun trying to dodge your way onto Bradfield Road. Lo betide why do I always get stuck behind the little old lady in the metro when it happens?

Penistone road is just bad for traffic FULL STOP !

Me and partner had an idea to keep traffic flowing better do you agree it would work ??

Get rid of the roundabout at law bros as thats where all the congestion builds and replace it with lights!

We can sit 20 mins just to get from the charlie brown lights to the travellers at the other side of roundabout ! pants !!

Traffic lights run different "Plans" at different times of the day, therefore adjusting the timing sequences etc to suit morning rush hour, middle of the night, sundays etc. So as you say the problem arises after 15:30, its likely at that time the traffic light controller is running a different plan to that of when you passed through earlier.

The Plans, timings and sequence of events etc are all specified by the council's traffic planners which are programmed into the traffic light controller by the manufacturer for the council.

Its possible for things to go wrong, like the traffic light controller thinks its the middle of the night (very light traffic) when infact its peak rush hour.
