Anyone seen the plans for traffic management (ho ho) to and from the redeveloped Newfield school site? Good result for the chair of the local residents action group (Newfield Norton Action Group) (the works traffic won't be taking the most direct route to the site past his house) not so good for anyone living on: Hemwsorth/Warminster/Thorpe House/Lees Hall/Norton Lees Lane. Still, why take a direct substantially shorter route through a residential area when a lengthy circuit affecting more people will suffice. You can bet this is here to stay - Council planners estimate an extra 180 vehicle journeys PER DAY to the new school(s) Newfield/Talbot (many of these will be bus type vehicles). Just wait for those yellow lines along the route. NIMBY's unite-NNAG have shown protest can work (for themselves).

Newfield is being rebuilt (long overdue and necessary) and the site will be shared by two schools. Talbot Special School will be co-located from Matthews Lane/Hemsworth Road. This will bring the extra vehicles to the Newfield site (180 every day - Council figures). Norton Lees and in particular the Hollythorpe estate will have to absorb that extra traffic. NNAG set themselves up to represent the local community views over these new developments. If you don't know whats happening and you live in the area I suggest you take an interest.
