hello everyone,
I was wondering if you could spare 2 mins to sign an online petetion at 10 downing street for me at all please.

Basically it is to do with internet service providers who say they offer "unlimited" service i.e. download as much as you like when this is not the case they have hidden 'fair use policys' and 'acceptable use policys' which basically means when they feel you have had enough they can cut your line speed back to the days of dial up.
the petetion asks ofcom and and also the asa (advertising standards authourity) to be pulled up spefically about the advertsing side of things as is blantent mis-selling like some endowment mortages where in the past.

many thanks for your help in this matter i would also if you be grateful if you could pass this email on to all your contacts too.

here is the all important link below

many thanks once again

:) nice 1 eric, even aol are at it now [see my post]. long overdue they take your money then crap on you. every 1 should sign it cos its misrepresentation.fair user policy is a load of pap.we'v had aol for 14 months & as advertised in contract no limitations or restrictrictions whatsoever 24x7,premium service for premium cost. now these cowboys have taken over they'v probably sacked off half the servers to save money thus weakening the infrastructure. i say if the network can't provide what you'r paying for it should be shut down. veeeeery sore point in our house at the moment.

ok signed but the government will turn round and tell you one of the following

it's a commercial decision and they can't interfere - translation we aren't interested
refer you to the office of fair trading - translation here's some hoops to jump through to waste your time, tire you out and we still aren't interested
tell you to make individual cases to trial - translation we get lots of tax revenue from this and there are a lot of complaints so we are going to divide you up to prevent a concerted action

Thing is though, they're not limiting your downloads. Yeah, they're dropping the speed, but they're not doing what many of the un-unlimited suppliers do, and put a block on your account until the next billing period.

At the end of the day, if enough people moan about it the suppliers will just remove the word unlimited from their advertising, and then carry on doing what they want.

yep right enuff, but when i complained to the so called tech support, the guy told me not to use it for a month & they might restore it [as if!!!!!!!!!!] when i asked him if we in particular had been targeted as heavy users he could'nt-would'nt say.in the case of AOL when we signed up we were assured 24x7 unlimited/unrestricted internet access, which to be honest we'v had for 14months,now they say that no 1 can expect unlimited access 24x7 but we'l still sell you it [at about a tenner a month more than the other isps]& restrict it.by restricting the speed they are breaking their contract to the consumer.theres talk of places like Korea having 50meg connections, why do we have to put up with this crap service when we invented the bloody phone/internet.finally whether the FUP is fair or not,you should get a warning when this is applied, not have to talk to a so called tech support person who says the same rhoobarb whatever your tech question is & keeps you on hold for nearly an hour while he dreams some other fantastic solution up on a premium rate phone number.as a p.s. when i cancelled they offered me the same service at a vastly reduced fee which pi**ed me off even more cos initially i did'nt mind paying over the odds for a service that was completly unrestricted/capped/wotever- but now has been ruined & as i was on the phone was still advertising unrestricted unlimited-blah blah-no mention of FUP -no thanx.
