As you all know pippa was supposed to be spayed 3 weeks ago.

1st week=phantom pregnancy
2nd week=stomach bug lasting 2 weeks.

I swear its like she knows! :suspect:

She is booked in for the morning. (unless something else happens!

Im taking her at 8:30 an should be able to pick her up at 4ish.

Will I have to bathe her stitches or anything? im really squeamish!

Im also dreading seperating her and molly for 10days after :(

aw tatty, you'll have already taken her now but just so you know, my thoughts are with you.

I don't know about bathing the stitches, I'd assume it'd be best to do it as little as possible as long as they're clean because you don't want to draw too much attention to them but ask your vet!

Do you have a cage? ;) I think you're gonna need one!!

Hiya tatty bear, hope pippa goes on fine, the vet will explain everything to you, you dont need to touch her stitches, they should give you a lamp shade for her to stop her trying to get to her stitches.

Only u knows your own dog, i removed mine because i knew she would neva touch her stitches, and she was neva left alone. Also i had 2 dogs at time, and didn't have to seperate them, the other dog tends to no, and also the vet smell they have on them.

The scarest part for me was handling her to take her outside i was scared of hurting her, but after 3 major ops bless her am nah used to it.

If you need to borrow a cage, i would lend you mine, i hope every thing goes well for her, i will be thinking about her and you, its so upsetting. Please keep us informed.

My dog Pebble was spayed 2 weeks ago she had the lampshade on during the night but does have her own cage, i did not seperate her from my other dog but the vet advised to take her on short walks on the lead not to let her run free (and that was just for the garden) but i was amazed at how good she was i only ever saw her attempt to chew her stitches once and she's a staffy x.

You shouldn't need to bathe the stitches but keep an eye on them for swelling and redness. The tissue around Lilly's stitches swelled up a couple of inches each side and it turned out she was allergic to the stitches so needed antibiotics.

Our life practically stopped for the 10 days that the stitches were in which included sleeping downstairs with her for the 1st couple of nights as she couldn't go upstairs as she might stretch the muscles, and we constantly had to watch her as she was hyper due to not being able to go for her usual walks.

We also ended up with the paint chipped off the doors/skirting boards/radiators from where the lampshade collar was bashed into things - she never did grasp walking around with it on!

Pets eh, who'd have em

HI all,

My baby is back :( :)

when I went to pick her up she didnt even seem pleased to see me, she was really sleepy and was struggling to walk :( I nearly cried

I brought her home gave her a bit of light food which perked her up slightly. I then laid her on a bed in the front room with a pillow and everything to make her comfy.

the scar area is really small (i imagined it being really big). The nurse said the vet had done a 'really good and neat job'

She has only got stitches on the inside apparently which will disolve on there own.

I have been told to keep her quiet and put the lampshade on when she is left unattended. Also Molly is allowed to be near her whilst someone is there. Although to be honest Molly is laid at the other side of the room and not bothered. Every often she keeps going over and smelling pippa and then going away again, what a good girl :)

Pippa is laid on her bed with my cat Lilly by her side.

I have just got to keep my eye on her and take her back in 3 days to be checked over :)

aw bless her, i'm so glad she's ok and they've done a neat job. And good girl Molly for keeping quiet around Pippa (although it probably won't last!!)

Give her very gentle cuddles from me and the spotties xx

Pippa looks so cosy on her bed, its obvious you love her, in my lifetime i have had lots of dogs and cats neutered and spayed and all have been fine don't worry about her just keep an eye on her and she will soon be back to normal :)

HI all,

I was going to sleep downstairs with her but she kept going to bottom of stairs and whining so I opened baby gate and she slowly walked up and went in her normal bed. We left her there for the night and this morning she seems alot happier. She keeps whinning every so often so she must be in some discomfort but she can still walk and she keeps laying on her back for me to stroke her belly so i dont think it is hurting that bad. The wound looks ok aswel. She is now laid back on her bed downstairs with molly-who is also being a good girl :)

She is a brave girl :)
