View Full Version : The state of Africa today
Mod: This thread was created from another that discussed the BNP and why DerekH finally decided to resign from the party because of a story being run on the BNP website about a racist horse
As I Stated earlier...to try and get something done in my own community I joined a party rather than go independent.
I think everyone knew my views were different but that is what we were trying to change in the Sheffield BNP.
The story about trigger broke the camels back as I am not an idiot and consider myself well educated.
To answer another question about South Africa......I never supported Eugene Terblanche or his AWB and am not racist with respect to black or white.
I do however have my reservations and opinions about people that take the mickey out of the Soft Britain.
Another thing about South Africa is that since we have allowed Mugabe and his henchmen to get away with the systematic killing of white farmers in Zimbabwe.......South Africa has been more or less given a green light to do the same thing.
I have it on good authority that killing of farmers and taking of their lands has already started in the Northern regions.
I also have documents that were leaked out, giving the operations in place when Mandela dies, to carry out mbeke's original plan of one settler one bullet.
I hope that the British government and others will do something about it when it happens but I will not be holding my breath as the country has nothing of value since majority rule took place.
I agree with your sentiments there Derek. I remember a few years ago where a company had found a valley in Zimbabwe that had a similair growing conditions to the ones that produce some of the worlds top wine grapes. They developed the area and in a few years had one of the finest vineyards in that part of the world, and were making a lot of money. So in stepped Mugabe, and nationalised it. I saw pictures taken three years after the take over and it was turning back into scrub, with tractors on one side with wheels missing. I suppose that the same will happen in SA after Mandela dies. I know of one person who has already left, because he fears a bloodbath.
The main problem I can see is that the White population that has lived and farmed there since their anscestors arrived in 1820 .....will have no where to go.
Same as the Rhodesians that have roots in the UK.......they are not allowed refuge here.
My brother in law is a flight sarg for the SADF and he is worried that when the day comes......there will be a bloodbath with no one to come to their aid...
Already we have seen one of the richest countries in the world that was self sufficient in every way. fall into despair since majority rule and now survives on handouts from the UK and the IMF.
The economy as I knew it has been demolished with affirmitive action where people are employed because of the colour of their skin and not for their skills or experience.
A bit like they are trying to achieve here in the UK , with reference to the government and local departments.
Magneteer 24-10-2004, 19:10 Thing is, Derek the whites in SA brought all this on themselves. They encouraged immigrants from the North into the country ( a place they wouldn't naturally want to live because of the climate ) to do the kind of jobs that they, themselves would prefer not to do, ie drivers, gardeners, labourers, general lackeys etc, and then wondered why they eventually became a minority. They only have themselves to blame, they shoud not have expected it to last forever living off the backs of these people. Had they been willing to do the s**t jobs themselves, they would still be in power.

Let me just correct you on the issue you have pointed out.
The people in the North came down to seek jobs as there were no employment for them where they were.
A lot of these people joined up to work in the gold mines and YES A lot of them were employed as gardeners, maids etc.
IT GAVE THEM JOBS!!! and with this the economy grew..
Look at the country now.....NO JOBs, No economy!!
We in Sheffield are importing labour from other countries because we dont have people that want to drive buses etc, Back in the 1960's we imported Jamaicans to drive buses.
Getting back to the point!....People that migrated to South Africa did so of their own accord for jobs and a better life.
If you ask many of the Black people IN SA whether they are better off now since majority rule, you will be surprised with the replies that you get!
There may have been discrimination of a kind in SA under the minority rule but there were jobs and a life for those who were willing to work for it.
You have stated that all the positions available for migrants were the Sh*t jobs that the whites didnt want to do!
I must say that your statement regarding Drivers, labourers, Lackeys holds no water as we have the same jobs here!
Are you saying that A driver is lower than someone that sits in an office pushing a pen?
Everyone that works helps the economy...no matter what job is done.
People with neccesary skills were given jobs that matched those skills.
Since the Majority rule came into being in Rhodesia and South Africa. There is no economy worth talking about since these people want to sit on their backsides and they believe that everything that was available should be theirs without having to work for it.
Sounds a bit like some of the people in the UK!!!

i used to live in South Africa where the whites were notoriously racist. we knew one family that called there puppy dog kaffa (dunno if thats the spelling) which is there word for n***er. the company wanted a non racist image so forced them to change it to just K. the thing is that although its name was no longer racist, it was a friendly dog, until a black person walked past, then would would go mad and go for him.
ok the word Kaffir was used in a derogotive way however, The Kaffir actually comes from the middle east where a Kafir means none believer.
In south Africa.....It had other meanings ie:
Anyone who worked in the Kaffir mines was called a Kaffir whether black or White.
As you lived in SA you would remember things like Kaffir corn etc that was used to make beer.....
All my dogs were taught to attack anyone that entered the property.......Not just the Black people.
However...statistics then ,were that the majority of break ins and murders were done by members of the black community.
I don't think calling a dog Kaffir was racial as stated above...They still have Kaffir corn on sale there.
PS. I know quite a few Black africans that call other black africans Kaffir.........
Magneteer 25-10-2004, 19:24 There may have been discrimination of a kind!!! mmmmm yes there MAY have been just a tad. Get real Del, The economy certainly did grow, but then so would any if the bulk of the workforce lived in glorified dustbins and were denied any of the benefits afforded their masters ie education, health, equal pay, housing etc etc. And no, a driver or gardener is not worth less than a pen pusher or an engineer, he's just as important in the scheme of things in a normal society, but that was never the case in SA. Sooner or later, the s**t was always going to hit the fan ,nothing that good( for the whites anyway) could last forever.

I take it that you have lived there with the very people you are talking about?
Here's a few facts for you.
Benefits were as follows....Free hospital treatment...One of the best hospitals in the world is a place called Baragwanath/Soweto Just outside of Johannesburg.
The whites had to pay for their medical......
Education was in most parts F.O.C. to those that wanted to learn...However they kept burning down the schools and killing the teachers.....but this I suppose is not an issue.
The whites had to pay school fees or face jail!
Housing that was supplied could not keep up with the influx of people arriving from Rhodesia, Mozambique, Angola etc...so the areas were transformed by the population into shanty towns with squatters moving onto any bit of open ground that was available.
The locals in soweto, Katlehong,Tembisa, Daveyton etc who had bought their homes were swamped with people that refused to pay rent and electricity.
The whites had to put up with rates and taxes increasing by up to 200% a year to cover for the losses that The ESC and local councils had incurred.
What you dont realise is that a lot of people in SA still live in the Kraals where their homes are made from Cow Dung or Mud and straw............
They do not work as their way of life is that the men are the warriors whilst the women get the food and look after them.
If you had been there you would have seen things in a different perspective.
Now! after majority rule......they don't have to worry about working as there are no jobs....If they want something...they steal it! Most of the time killing the person that they are stealing from!
As you say...Get Real!!!! THis is the real picture....
If you think they had it bad under White rule And the same applies to Rhodesia, They are having a worse time now than ever before!
Phanerothyme 25-10-2004, 21:31 For anyone who doesn't remember what Apartheid was, or what it meant for millions of black south africans every day of their lives:
Here are the main laws of apartheid (aparthood, apart-ness)
The Prohibition of Mixed Marriages Act (1949)
Amendment to The Immorality Act (1950)
This law made it a criminal offence for a white person to have any sexual relations with a person of a different race.
The Population Registration Act (1950)
This law required all citizens to register as black, white or coloured.
The Suppression of Communism Act (1950)
This law banned any opposition party the government chose to label as "communist".
The Group Areas Act (27 April 1950)
This law barred people of particular races from various urban areas.
The Reservation of Separate Amenities Act (1953)
This law prohibited people of different races from using the same public amenities, such as drinking fountains, restrooms, and so on.
The Bantu Education Act (1953)
This law brought in various measures expressly designed to reduce the level of education attainable by black people.
The Mines and Work Act (1956)
This law formalised racial discrimination in employment.
The Promotion of Black Self-Government Act (1958 )
This law set up nominally independent "homelands" for black people. In practice, the South African government had a strong influence over these bantustans.
Black Homeland Citizenship Act (1971)
This law changed the status of the inhabitants of the 'homelands' so that they were no longer citizens of South Africa, and therefore had none of the rights that came with citizenship.
The state of Africa today? Well it is heading in a northerly direction as the somalian plate is split off to the north east by the arabian plate, and the nubian plate (africa minus somalia ethiopia etc) is set to collide with italy sometime within the next 150 million years.
The rest of it is so complicated that it would take 30 or more pages just to scratch the surface of the state of the continent today. And that's before you even get to Colonial History and the ugly secrets lurking in the Imperial Records of many european countries; and the colossal hangover that induced .

Nice Phan, I cannot find anything wrong with your post.......I will say one thing though......Apartheid did not work! as the same goes for all ideals..there were flaws and a lot could not be policed...just like communism etc......
The word Apartheid was something that Hendrick Vervoerd brought into the dictionary.....before that...the word did not exist....
When the British colonised Southern Africa.....They set in motion the ideals that would follow.
The subsequent de-humanisation of the native population was instigated not by the South Africans but by the British .
Years ago it was an offence punishable by a long term in Jail for a white to have intimate relations with a black...However, THe Cape coloured was born from such unions way back from around 1652 when Jan Van Reebeck landed at the cape on the Dromadardis......A lot of white Afrikaans people (they do not admit it) come from these relationships.
The Rhodesians had the same systems in place but did not have a word or ideal that was advertised.
The homelands...were in some of the most beautifull parts of SA.
QuaQua was on the border of lesotho in the maluti mountains..........THe idea was good as it started to get a lot of investment from other countries as the tax breaks and incentives given by SA to foreign investors helped to get industry started there.
Sun City was built in bophutatswana... as gambling was illegal in SA....this brought revenue into the homeland from all over the world.
Like I said..the ideas were good to start with.....and a lot of people were proud to be classified as being a citizen of those homelands.
The land was given to the people.......
Whether the idea was right or wrong......it did give a lot of people hope and future that they will not be getting now.
And mark my words......South Africa will become a one party state like Zimbabwe where anyone contesting the government will be put to death.
Looking at history in Africa...... England has a lot to answer for ie: Putting people like Idi Amin, mugabe etc in power.
The idea was to have a democracy in each country...only to get one party dictatorships in return and we are still contributing to their coffers.
With all the good intentions.......we have created some of the worst human rights issues in Africa.......
