View Full Version : Do you know you are born?

Reason I ask is because as a child I was regularly told that I lacked this knowledge.

Alas no one gave me a date that realisation would hit... Therefor I'm still waiting. :help:

Can anyone enlighten me? :(

Relax Dude, if you weren't born you wouldn't be posting. So there you are, you must be born and now you know cos I told ya. It's only logical!

Dunno, I was thinking today about the fantastic childhood that I had and the obvious sacrifices my parents made so that they could provide their vile progeny with the finer things in life. I thought about all of my mother's time that she spent ensuring that her kids took part in extra curricular activities and my father's time spent tilling the fields so that they could be paid for.

And what ungrateful little putz's we were. We never realised what they gave up for our benefit, for the myriad nights where they took their ingrate kids to whatever beneficial activity occupied them and what could possibly further their child's development. At some point, unless they're the usual nasty Aryan goody two shoes type of kid, the offspring acknowledges that their parents did them right and that they were the recipients of unconditional love and commitment.

The wretched little ****s just don't realise it yet. And at one point, me included.

You're officially born when you realise that they only spoke truth when they say that you didn't know you were born ... once you realise that actually you didn't know you were born, then you are actually born ....

I was repeatedly told I should never have been born at all, and no matter how hard I try I can't quite convince myself this wouldn't have been better for the planet and the rest of humanity. My 'norm' is feeling like I'm invisible and I don't exist, or rather that I shouldn't. People say birth and babies are marvellous miracle events of joy, but I just don't see it, I was so conditioned to think that being born was a wicked thing to do I can't understand why other people are happy about it happening in their lives. If I try to feel like a fellow human, I have to block out those aspects of life, because they send me straight back to invisible alienation again. :)

Purdy, I've only met you once, but I've read lots of your posts. You contribute so much in lots of ways! In my opinion you are a striking and unique individual, and the forum, Sheffield and the world would be a lesser place if you hadn't been born. It must have been so hard to have had those wicked things said to you, but you are here and certainly not invisible. Many of us wouldn't have made it. I can't say I know how you feel, I imagine few people could, but I can congratulate you on your tenacity and strength.

Did your mother have photos of you as a child? If so the likelyhood is that yes you were born as you have photographic proof!

I think all parents who say "You don't know you're born" to their kids should keep a photo of an empty pushchair ready-to-hand, as proof of the fact!

It is difficult to believe that anyone could use those words to a child, even in anger, nevermind repetetivly.
Still you are part of this community now.
The biggest shower of misfits, braggards and lowlifes ever to disgrace the planet.

Oh god I've done it again! :hihi:

Me and my late night maudlin attacks...

Thank you (again) for your kind words and pep talks, *_ash_* Mrs Mac, Rivelin6, Artisan (and DonK ;) ). The not-existing thing is pretty wierd, actually, in that sometimes I literally feel invisible, or from a different species. But though it's often unpleasant, in other ways it gives me a unique perception of the world. Lots of people take a lot of drugs to feel like that, and I get it for free!

I think that Sheffield Forum is one of the best ways to seek out and find other like-minded oddballs who're much harder to bump into in everyday life. There's all kinds of everyone on here, and no matter how obscure the problem or difference, there's always someone lurking who turns out to feel the same, or is ready with a kind word and an ego hug. Three cheers for SF and all the lovely people I've 'met' on here in the last year.
