Don't know if in Sheffield MFI is the same as on the Island, but here they use contract fitters as opposed to their own and if you have any problems with the fitting of the kitchen then MFI are not interested with any problems at all and say that you have to deal with the contractors direct even though it is them (MFI) that employ them in the first place. To be quite honest I would NEVER ever buy a kitchen from MFI again their after-sales service leaves a lot to be desired - in fact they are just not interested.

i had one supplied and fitted and it was excellent - had a prob with the hob an it was fixed no probs. Cant say I experienced the same when I was going to have a bathroom done with them (which I cancelled in the end as service was so poor) or when I bought some bedroom furniture for my daughter
we did ours last year through MFI - remember you CAN negotiate and even haggle on the price - we certainly did and saved quite a bit of money!!!!!
But one things for sure - ***find your own fitters*** - MFI take a cut of the fitting fees meaning you pay more and get no better service (as they're contracted out) our 'mfi' fitters didn't do tiling so we had to find a tiler to come in after. Be better if you can find your own kitchen fitter who can do the tiling too.
They only do a limited range of carcases and only do standard size doors , the people usually don't have a clue what they are doing , do you want me to carry on !!!.
I agree with jen13, by all means, buy the kitchen, but employ someone yourself to fit it, you'll get a better service at a cheaper price

We have fitted many kitchens purchased from MFI. The quality is good for the price, although we also supply the exact same kitchens from MFI trade arm for much less.
Our customers prefer to use us because we manage and install all the work. MFI use contract fitters and will up the price, also the quality of the work you get could be dependant on how much the contractor is getting.
If you do buy from MFI make sure you very acurately check everything they deliver as soon as it arrives. Mistakes are common as is damage. MFI dont quibble about replacing but it can take up to 4 weeks to sort.
If you wanted us to give you a price then pm me.

As someone who used to supply and fit kitchens - MFI and Howdens (their trade outlet) are neither particularly good quality nor good value for money. You can get colour matched units of a better quality from a lot of small independant showrooms. Units and doors from the manufacturer aren't particularly expensive, just the markup MFI put on is astronomical. It's not even top quality stuff.

Our MFI kitchen is now 12 years old and absolutely fine. We only have a small, L-shaped run of four units in total, so they are in constant use (and have been climbed on by children, too ...) We had to replace the tap after three years, so I probably would not buy that from MFI again, and our appliances were bought separately, but the carcasses, doors and hinges are sound.
