Scientists in Peru have come up with super-sized Guinea Pigs for human consumption [apparently there they eat 65 million of the furry creatures each year, with heads and limbs still attached :o ]

Though I have to say I was confused by the article it stated that that after 3 decades they had got this super sized pig. Though by the sounds of it, the weighs not much more than you average very large Piggie!!! Good to see that those 30 years were well spent ;)

In Colombia I had the "Cuy" on several occasions - it is no more unusual than tucking into chicken. The really good restaurants that serve it keep them all in a pen out the back and you get to chose which one you would like to eat.
The next time you see it, it is on your plate whole, with its eyes tightly closed and its claws all curled up and teeth sticking out.
The Flavour is very gamey - not unlikr rabbit, but very greasy (from the deep frying)
