I have just made a terrible discovery.

After years of running away from anything wool/stringy related hobbies I have been defeated.

I recently decided to have a go at Knitting and needlework. Against my better judgement.

I was horrified to discover that I am grreeeeeaaaat at it. It seems it may be genetic as my mother is a maniac knitter, but also quite cool. (felt compelled to add that last bit)

I showed my little project to the local knitting guru (kindergarten teacher) who gasped and didn't believe I had done it.

I know feel quite proud, although a little disturbed that I may be entering my twilight years a little prematurely.

But wait..........what is this I have come across????

Perhaps I am joining a new wave of coolness never seen before?

Anyone else want to jump on the wagon?

I now think knitting is the way forward for everyone.

I'm off now to knit myself a new car.

Knit one, perl one. :help: :)

It's always common for a grandma to start knitting for a grandchild that is on the way.

I've seen people in action and it looks quite difficult to me.

Exactly, that is my concern. I am no where near the age of being a grandmother!!

I love the fact that that website calls it 'fiber art'. Classic.:hihi:

You're not from Rotherham then? They start around 26 in those parts!

I do a lot of crochet, (and embroidery).

(and yes, funnily enough, I'm a grandmother! - albeit a young one!)

when I gave up smoking, last year, I found having the crochet hook, or the embroidery,in my hand to "fidget" with, very useful to quell the need for a cigarette.

I couldn't have a ciggie, whilst working on the item, because I didn't want to drop ash onto the piece of work, nor did I want it to smell of stale ciggies.

I enjoy making things, and I find it fairly easy to do, even being "sedentary" as I am.

Ahh ha PT I may be calling on your expertness in crochet then. As it seems a natural prgression from knitting!!!

I could possibly kill two birds with one stone as far as smoking is concerned.
