Hi! Would like to go for a nice breakfast tomorrow morning somewhere nice, like in a park. can anyone recommend somewhere in Sheffield or in Northern Derbyshire?

For a nice breakfast in pleasant surroundings I would recommend Taste on Eccleshall Rd. You can always go for a stroll in Endcliffe Park or Botanical Gardens afterwards.:)

Come round ours. I'll do you a nice greasy fry up, then you can have a walk round Oughtibridge park!

The old queens head in the bus station used to do a cracking full breakfast...not sure if they still do though, havent been in for a while.

I have been informed that the Lions Lair? nr coles do a good breakfast.

Or not in city centre, Hercules at Crookes or Take 5 cafe on Commonside.

Other than that i would suggest if you have transport then to go out to Grindleford cafe. That is good.

I suppose it’s no good as you want to impress not save pennies but I always abuse Sheffield Universities, Interval Café. It’s only about two quid for a good breakfast, with free coffee re fills. Plus their shop has dirt-cheap papers and there all in their separate bits so you can pick ‘n’ mix your own dream team Sunday newspaper.

Well, there was a cafe in Hunters Bar I think it was that Craig and i went to and it did a good breakfast. I reme,ber that the seats that were in there were like bar seats, some raised tables with bar seats type thing and some tables at normal level.
The front of the cafe was orange.

Well, theres nothing impresses a lady more than a proper fried english breakfast.

Id recommend Merrills on Westfield Terrace (near the west st. tram stop).

The Cafe at Millhouses park if its a weekend - can't beat it!

Cavell's is nice - took my boss there and he was well impressed - should get a good mark on my annual review :P

Go to the Lion's Lair, I'm sure Fabrice will be more than happy to welcome you in his establishement (he also owns the Cricket Inn in Totley Bents)

Went to the Lions Lair. Unfortunately it is not open/does not serve food until 12.00 so the breakfast option was out the window.

However, we went back for lunch which was fabulous!

I like Woolworths full english TBH.
You can have a choice of how many items you wan on your plate and theirs loads to choose from.

Always filled me and always tasted good :thumbsup:

the restaraunt above the big co-op in town does the cheapest breakfast i know of,its nice too.

I had one of the worst vegitarian breakfasts EVER in Woodseats on Saturday morning - burnt omlette, beans and tinned tomatoes - yuck.. It got me thinking as to where my fellow veggie Sheffield Forumers consider the best breakfast in town. My vote goes to Joe's Ices on Ecclesall and Rustlings.

Take 9 (could be take 5, could be something completely different) near Crookes (could be crookemoor).... does a reasonable vegie brekkie but there seems to be nothing outstanding that I know of....

except the ones that I make... waffles, egg, beans, nice veggie sausages, fresh tomatos, some toast and a big mug of tea

i hate it when they dont cook eggs prop or think u love mushrooms(yuk) and give you lots to fill plate up! some vegi sausage nice (linda mc) some gross. ive yet to find a decent place

The Olive Garden do a good one.

And there is Amadas just down from office world. It's a proper greasy spoon sort of place but they do a good veggie breakfast.

kirky - I've never been called a hippy before! This is boss. I'm a football-loving, hip-hop listening, 29 yr old ex-scouser. I had long hair for about 5 mins in my Nirvana - listening youth. That was the closest i ever came to being a hippy!

I'm sure we've had a similar thread not too long ago... but for me the best is at the Globe, opposite Hallam Uni. Costs £4.50 but it's absolutely massive - two fried eggs, three veggie sausages, toast, mushrooms, tomatoes, beans... and chips, damn it. Chips! You don't need to eat again all day.

The worst, I'm sorry to say, is at my local, the Broadfield. But I'm just grateful and amazed to find veggie breakfasts anywhere at all. If you asked for one when I lived in Birmingham you'd get stabbed to death with a sharpened pork scratching.

Yeah, it will have. I've never been in the right-hand side bit (or 'the zoo', as I have sometimes heard it called...) but I'm often in the other side watching footy - there's one big screen and a few smaller ones.

Lazyfish - the really poor veggie breakfast i has was in a cafe on Chesterfield Rd - the name of which i can't remember. If you're coming from town towards Meadowhead, it was just before the main shops, on the left hand side, opposite Woodseats Primary. I don't recommend it. Everything was bad - from the service to the food. Maybe i'm being harsh, and they were having an off day. They're not getting a second chance though!

Blue Moon Cafe in town do the best veggie/vegan food, don't know what there breakfasts are like though as I have never been there early enough to try them.

Anyone know anywhere you can get a good full english on a Sunday other than a supermarket? Preferably the north of Sheffield.

Well its not north sheffield and not too cheap but Nonnas in Eccleshall Road does a mean all day breakfast on a sunday - had one 2 weeks ago it was yummy - they even substituted the egg bit (i dont like eggs) with extra bacon for me !!

pref somewhere really nice to sit in a relaxed atmosphere with good food and just recover from the weekend
also pref somewhere fairly central as a lot of my mates live in different directions

Vittles in Broomhill. Take your paper and enjoy a full English breakfast. It isn't very central but well worth a look!

Not been myself but several of my friend say the cafe in the park in millhouses park is superb for sunday breakfast

hm - cant remember if they do or not.
but surely the lovely healthy walk after would make up for this??

we often go to the woodbine at hope (although not in the summer) when we have been walking but i'm looking for something more in town for the sunday recovery breakfast after a big night out. there must be something?

There's a cafe toward the end of South Road, Walkley whose name I forget, but it's opposite the Freedom House. Now if it's a proper, huge, get-rid-of-my-hangover cholesterol feast you want, then this monkey is what you're looking for.

Go big, it's cheap and if you time it right, you can be across the road supping a pint before all your relatives have come out of church.

i've not lived in sheffield all that long and one thing i've not found yet is the kind of cafe culture that durham and other places have on a sunday - for example i recently went to victoria quays on a sunday hoping to get a coffee and sit and chat to a mate but nothing open.
that place would do a roaring trade in newcastle.

There used to be a barge moored up at Victoria Quays that did a top-notch breakfast, but because this is a 24 hour city (ie, it's closed 24/7) they probably decided they'd be best spending their Sunday morning emptying the hoover.

Or something.

Take 5 on Commonside also does a decent breakfast. I think the one I mentioned earlier is called O' Reilly's. I'm quite sure of it now. Definitely worth a visit.

It was vittles this weekend, Breakfast was fairly standard really and not bad value.
I would give it 6/10.

I bet you get tiny portions though? Their food is nice but I come away more hungry than I was before I entered. No, if it is still open then O Riley's Walkley is the greasy spoon that fried breakfasts is all about.

And I'm certainly not aware of Fagan's Broad Lane doing a breakfast. I sure hope they do. A full on English breakfast with a pint of their wonderful Guinness. Why indeed, Heaven IS a place on earth!

Theres a place called taste at the hunters bar end of hunters bar that is awesome. The coffee is great to which is a rare achievment for Sheffield

Psalter Tavern is a regular for post weekend self abuse relief for me and my friends..

It has a pretty good menu and smoe seriously comfy leather sofas to park your worn out self on.

There's a huge great long thread on that done just before Christmas.

You can't beat in Interval in the students Union for a fab all-day Sunday breckkie. You don't need a Ucard to get in, and it does brilliant meat and veggie fry-ups for under £3.

Why not try Glover & co. on Ecclesall Road, very nice surroundings and open from 8:00am

Do it yourself you idle person.
Grill some bacon, fry an egg slowly in sausepan with a lid, add some sliced mushrooms, tomato and onions.
Lightly toast some bread and stick the lot between too slices.

Bacon(best back),Sausage,Egg,Tomatoes,Beans,Mushrooms,2slices of either toast or bread and butter and a mug of tea or coffee for £3.00!!!You can go even larger for £4.00 with extra toast,sausage and extra egg included!!......and its lovely!

I did, and nothing came up for "Breakfast" that was relevant!

The Seashells Cafe at Woodseats is great, good for recovery periods. Hair of the dog in the Abbey Pub is good too :thumbsup:

If it's not just a basic greasy fry up you're after then Taste at Hunters Bar is good - recommend their poached eggs with Salmon which are wonderful. It can work out a bit pricey but worth it as a treat.

Cafe Ceres on Sharrowvale Road is also good. Both places are nice to chill & read a paper over breakfast.

If you fancy travelling to the Peaks Grindleford Station Cafe used to be good for a greasy fry up & you can walk off your Breakfast through Padley Gorge. Haven't been there for some time so not sure what it's like now.

MOCO on West St does a first rate scrambled eggs / poached eggs and bacon for a couple of quid, plus the best coffee in the city and the best design of any coffee bar I've visited. Seems the owner isn't too big on promoting the place, so it's probably the best kept secret in Sheffield. Makes a change from the Starbucks / Subways that seem to be infesting most major towns these days

just have to add that - having inspected it- Fagans breakfast indeed "amazing". the absolute best breakfast ive ever tasted ever!!HIGHLY recommended!!!!!!!!!!!

I used to live in Leeds and there are many quality all-english breakfast (i.e. fry-up!) places. Some were greasy spoons, others a little smarter. All served good all-day breakfasts.

Where in Sheffield can I go for the same thing!? I once spent two hours wondering the streets like a buffoon, friend in tow, absolutely gasping for a quality fry-up. Nowt we could find so we ended up in a place in the market which was poor but at the time we were hardly in a position to complain.

Anyway, can someone help please!! I would quite happily buy breakfasts for people for this knowledge!!

Theres a cafe on South road at Walkley which does a good breadfast, I don't know its name but its at the Hillsborough end & open Sundays I noticed the other day.

Always found Tesco "pick your own" very good but don't know if Infirmary road has a cafe so the only other one is on Abbeydale Road.

Had a nice one at Morrisons a few weeks ago but in the past has been very hit & miss

try roadside cafe on the a57,past aston towards m1 j31,a right plate full,good prices,,

Don't know if they still do it (so potentially not a particularly useful post......) but Harleys on Glossop Road used to do a cracking weekend fry up, I think mostly for the hotel guests but anyone could go in. They had a toaster on the buffet bar so you could select your own level of singe. That was about 2 or 3 years ago, though, but you could give 'em a ring?

Endcliffe Park cafe always gets my vote but get in early as it is busy.

I would highly recommend on Hulley's just past Endcliffe Park on Ecclesall Road. It has excellent value, choice and quality.
