Some of my best teenage memories were in CJ's (broomhall). The atmosphere,the sense of community and of course the sound.
I remember one time when Alex Higgens and Jimmy White came down,but they were'nt in the mood for playing snooker though :hihi:
It was so sad when Colin passed away, the place was never the same. RIP.
Anyone out there that used to go-much love to you. :thumbsup:
i can remember cj's and i also used to go to 91 blues on upper hanover and sunnys - those were the days

i went once, but they wouldnt let us in, reckoned it had just been busted.....more like cos we were a scruffy bunch of hippies and punks :P
i went more to the ones on pitsmoor as thats where we lived........peoples choice on spital hill and ive forgotten the other one, further up burngreave road, just down from rock street and stuff (DOCKERS??), i was in there when it got raided once :P
also one on sharrow i can never remember the name, the one that wa a large hut behind somebodys house, thatw as the best
Yes spent lots of happy hours in all those mentioned.
Happy days back in the mid to late 70s.
colin was my sister julie's best friend for many years. he was a lovely man and is greatly missed

At Christmas CJ used to leave money behind the counter of Greenhouses (local beer off) for all the local kids to have sweets, like you say nice man

and colin wasnt called cj like some people think.. the name cj's was short for colin and joes

Just been talking to a friend of mine about CJ's and the 'rumours' he heard which was apparently doing the rounds, was that a know burglar Darren Brown was bringing trouble and raids to the area, the others didn't want all this attention and barred him, but then out of spite it is alleged that he burnt the place down.
