Hi everyone, i'm a relative newbie but have posted before, a while ago.
I am knitting what should be a lovely jumper, in a beautiful yarn and have reached the sleeves, only to find that the pattern seems to have a few mistakes in it. I have checked and checked and I'm sure the mistake is in the pattern, not my knitting or reading of it...I have never noticed pattern mistakes in anything I have knitted before...its a "Laines du nord" Jane Ellison pattern book.Have any of you found mistakes in patterns or is it more likely to be me being thick? There is one obvious error when it says to continue until the sleeve is a certain length from caston edge, and the length it states is shorter than the one it stated earlier in the directions...I managed to get the right length from the diagram. But more worryingly, the stitch counts it gives at the end of a decrease row seem wrong - the maths seems out, and i dont know how to continue, as all the following decreases and stitch counts are based on the one that seems wrong to me. Help! I'd be really grateful for any suggestions as the yarn is really expensive and I can't waste it.

Hi
I dont know exactly which pattern it is but found this link (http://www.janeellison.co.uk/books/errata.asp)to errata for this book (I think) - hope it helps:D If not that link gives you a way of contacting her.

Mistakes can and do occur in pattern books and magazines. We were only discussing last month an error in a baby cardigan pattern in one of the magazines.

Your first step would be to see if the company publishes an errata page on their web site. What's the exact name of the book and the pattern? Post them on here and we can have a hunt too.

The sleeve issue does sound like a genuine mistake in the pattern. If that is the case, then there should be an errata page somewhere if it's a known issue.

EDIT: Lisa posted while I was typing :) .

Thank you both very much! The link does indeed mention my pattern - the long version of "Annie" from Laines du Nord 4. I had found her site before but somehow not found the errata page. What is worrying is that t mentions a few mistakes in that pattern and now I need to check all the other pieces. Oh God - I spent a fortune on Debbie Bliss Pure silk for it, as a treat for being poorly, and all the time I've been knitting it I've been thinking "can't cock it up - must get it right" to justify it. Oh well, if need be I can always pull some back and redo, but what a pain! Especially when the pattern book itself wasn't that cheap!
Thanks for your help, anyway, I shall go and tut to myself some more.

I have to pull the whole sleeve back and start it again! :(
But glad I've got the corrected version to follow now, so at least I can finish this bloomin' jumper!
