For you to have seen first hand that the people in the market are scrubbers, you must have yourself been in the market. If all the people in the market are scrubbers, then you yourself must be a scrubber :D

It isn't normally the people in the market that are scruffy but the pavements that they walk on

I always thought "scrubbers" in Sheffield, meant Prostitutes, thats what we use to call them anyhow :confused:

I love Castle Market, it's one of the first places I aim for when I'm in Sheffield, last time I was there everyone just looked like me :huh: all looking for bargains.:thumbsup:

im a secret market shopper :)
i get all my meat from castle market ten times better than pink super market meat, and there is a fruit and veg stall in the corner ran by this hunky good looking guy, and his stock is some of the best i have found,
i think its a shame that people who never use them have the gaul to slag them,
if you want to eat supermarket food go ahead but if you want quality then use the market
i find the stall holders to be extremely attentive and cant help you enough,
i would be gutted if we lost them
oh and ps im NO SCRUBBER :mad: :mad: :mad:

sorry peeps, whilst i think jaythedons words may not be very tactful....he does acually have a slight point. I have to catch the bus across from there after work and it is not the nicest place to be standing with all the lovely people drinking cans of special brew at half 3 (a regular occurance may i add!) in the afternoon and spitting all over the place.As well as the conversations about been in court for gbh and fraud that you hear whilst waiting for the bus. He may sound harsh but there is an element of truth in what he is saying........i think they were the people he was refering to, not the actual people who shop there as i do happen to call in from time to time....

Right I think there may be a little truth in the op's post here, BUT, to bomb all the people inside is a touch emotive under today's current climate. Not all the people who enter said establishment are scrubbers, a lot of pensioners shop there, and I'm not saying some of them are nice, cos some are damm rude, but thats only a small minority but I dont think they are scrubbers.

On the other hand, there are the certain folk who spit, swear and call their kids kyle and jordan that do go down there, you can tell who they are cos they shout "cum eyor" at their shaven head offspring and wear tracksuits that are a lovely off-white colour. But lets be fair you see them in Meadowhall too!! does that mean they are a better class of scrubber?
